You can get started in parkour later in life. Depending on your fitness level will determine how slow you need to start. Start with simple low impact techniques. Work on building up your strength which will lend more support for your joints

+Mitch Howe muscle doesn't equal strength, especially with calisthenics
@manni0195
@manni0195 8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Howe thats false. It would make sense, but it doesn't work that way. Bruce Lee could lift more weight than people who had more muscle mass than him. Strength is a nervous system thing. Power lifters train low reps to train their nervous system to be stronger. Thats why they don't look good and have much muscle.
@manni0195
@manni0195 8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Howe ok people obviously gain some muscle from any form of training. I was just saying strength isn't dependent on muscle mass. Doing low reps won't not build muscle and only build strength. In order to get better at pull-ups or make them harder one could just add weights to them instead of gaining muscle mass to increase resistance.

Most cities will have parkour classes. they are usually held in gymnastic gym with pads for safety. Some Crossfit gyms will have them also. You can usually find a local parkour community website for your area and someone there should be able to send you in the right direction. Good luck

What an example. Like many said, Ron Sr. can do alot of things i can't, and i am 22. So i really hope i still have that condition, that mentality and energy when i'm 40. For thos who said "he's old", he's not old. If he can do this stuff and you dont, who's closest to be an old guy. Till his mind and body keep this fit, he'll be young.

Any time I see someone doing it 1 arm at a time, I tell them to scale it back and do symmetrical jumping muscle ups with symmetrical muscle up negatives instead. I've been coaching parkour to thousands of people for 8 yrs. and I've seen people mess up their shoulders from the asymmetry. Plus it is a hard habit to break. It's better to avoid the asymmetry completely.

I agree with your point about the symmetry/asymmetry, but I found this tutorial much more helpful than yours as yours was simply showing how it was done instead of breaking it down into easily learnable progressions. Visual learning is all very well but I find that progressions are also a brilliant way to learn a more advanced move like a muscle up.
