Keeping your cool is often the hardest part lol. My mom’s the biggest narcissist, it’s EXHAUSTING. She gaslit me my whole childhood and it took me a half- decade long depressive episode to start from rock bottom again. I can assure u they never change, so don’t waste your time with them. Keep your distance as much as u can, and spend time with other people who get you. If you’re in a similar situation, we can get through this!

I need to hear this more since I keep trying to help, and I keep thinking she has changed when she never has and she always ends up gaslighting, guilt-tripping and stonewalling me when I naively try to have a grown up dialogue about our issues 🫠. It’s just who they are, it’s incomprehensible but it’s just who they are.

I’m so afraid that I’ll become like her. Been abused all my life by my narcissistic mother, always playing cool around my other family members about my mom bc i don’t wanna enrage her. Constantly walking on eggshells around her, getting into relationships too quickly just bc i secretly hoped I’d be married and living in another place far away from her. Nothing I ever do is enough, I have chronic illnesses that prevent me from working full time which means she is my only support. 22 years of this abuse and I’m so tired of it. I don’t know how or what I can do to escape her. Tried to k.m.s multiple times bc she makes me think my life is worthless and that im a mistake. Never taught me how to be a woman so now im like a child in a woman’s body. Everyone is getting married, graduating college while I’m just trying to survive. I don’t know how much longer I can take this. I just wish I had a mom

"how to navigate someone with a narcissistic personality disorder?" LEAVE! kind regards, a survivor of parental narcisstic abuse (update: everyone has some degree of narcissism and there is something called "healthy narcissism" = self-love. But unhealthy narcissism also known as narc personality is not curable and can't be changed. That's the difference. You can be narc and grow into being more emphathetic and thinking of others too. It's a balance.=

As somebody who is currently living with a narcissistic mother who also happens to be cripplingly bipolar, a former alcoholic, and manifestly sexist, while I also have to do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to taking care of my three younger siblings (one of which has ADHD that my mom does not understand how to handle), I can safely say that your sentiment is 100% correct. Narcissists are draining, unsympathetic people, and are-regardless of circumstance-to be avoided as much as possible.

@@BeelzeKid It's true that every situation is different and that the nuance needs to be respected. I think it's important to recognize that staying with a narcissist most often means giving up on someone: yourself. If narcissists had a "Greatest Hits" album, these would be the top tracks: 1. "Can You Do Me a Favor (Involving Money)?" 2. "Do It For Me." 3. "Do It Now." 4. Silent Treatment 5. "You Never Loved Me." 6. Gaslighting 7. Catfishing 8. Deflecting 9. Dishonesty 10. Playing the Victim

For me it‘s very simple: as Iam confident myself, I don’t subdue myself to ego-bloated others. Iam not surrounding myself with arrogant people. I don’t give attention. For people involved with narcissistic relationships: as now Iam very well educated, it‘s best for you to plan your escape route as soon as you can. This ain’t no real love. You deserve a real relationship where you can trust. You are more than worthy of that! Show yourself some love and draw your attention to people you can trust and who value you. Life is complicated enough to waste it on „complicated“ relationships too. Love yourself ❤

oh my god dude... I'm young and i might not fully understand but.. I've been into something similiar, One of the reasons i left my boyfriend was because of his mom, she is horrible, she sabotaged us a whole lot of times, And I don't think he did enough to stand against her for us, She calls me a demon and a "manipulator" even though I'm literally a minor and she's 40, it's embarrassing to think about how a grown woman like that is saying horrible things to a "child" Compared to her, And i did nothing wrong this entire time

I fully understand this because I’m dealing with narcissists myself , they use people as a shield then when they no longer need them they turn on them and try to stir up trouble , I’ve learned that the best way to deal with a narcissist is to act like they don’t exist , they are cowards who just use and abuse people.

@@CordadePink , I'm 43 already. I was absorbed into my family business just after I graduated in the year 2006. I was made Director and Partner without any assessment for qualification. The stupidest thing I did was to look at the rosy picture of comfort and luxury, while my parents were busy attracting liabilities by over-trading an unflyable project. I got married in the year 2011 and my father expired in the year 2012. This brought an avalanche of liabilities solely on my shoulders as my narcissist mother conveniently side stepped expecting her son to perform magic and clean up the mess she and my father created. I also get viciously reprimanded if I fail. I have been doing so sacrificing my prime, and now I have developed the steely resolve to resettle in my life, earlier the better. My wife has been a rock by my side for the last 14 years but her patience is running thin. She also cannot bear to see her husband who she loves being treated as a man servant when not working by his narcissist mother ending up in shouting matches. Finally she has almost left me. So now I am juggling: my career bouncing from job to job and striving hard to resettle in my life, away from mom, managing the closure of a sick company and carrying out the responsibilities of a husband and a son much against the advance of my psychiatrist/councillor.

I had two university friends whom I knew for 38 years. One was always fairly self centred and narcissistic but fun (mostly) and the other was quieter and (I thought) mostly like me. The first told me we could still be friends but had moved and would nor give me an address (all I wanted to do was send birthday/Christmas cards 😢 not visit). I ended up finding the business address by accident and told him. He went ballistic and the second backed him up. It hurt me but I just walked away. When friends deliberately hurt you they're not friends anymore, it's an attempt at control. Be yourself, many hugs and the very best of luck ❤

Undiagnosed but I just think that maybe 3/5 of my core family member have narcissistic behaviour. "Don't owe them favours" or "don't give them chance to abuse you" & the "keep calm" are some of the most effective so far. Anyway, I refuse to be manipulated so I'll avoid be on their side except it's clear that it would be a win-win solution for us, not just one sided. Compliment will just boost their pride no matter how fake & asking them about dreams could make them worse.

Hi Psych2go! I always love your video's and I'm a big fan, but this one got me a bit confused.. can you guys maybe explain why you encourage adapting yourself for the sake of a narcisist? Isn't it better to stay away from toxic people and/or set firm boundries? Please let me know!♡

I really love your videos! I also need help with something.... My friends class got a temporary teacher and the thing is hes only one year older then me!! Ikn its bad ikn but hes fr so attractive and im not the only one who thinks that! I dont have any lessons with him thankfully. Im also finishing school this summer and starting work after summer as well! I just dont know how to start up a conversation or should i even talk to him? I have noticed when he first started working there that he keept looking at my direction when we walked pass eachother and he always smiles at me. I just really dont know what to do. Cause i really want to talk to him before its summer and i miss to even talk to him or get to know him! I fr need help! Also im 21 and hes around 22 / 23! Im also super scared of being rejected cause that would be sooo embarrassing! 😄

I don't think I'd let a narcissist anywhere near my pets. They are mostly unable to be empathetic to animals. Dangerous.

And she was like"🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄" "yeah yeah" so I apologized to her if that could help but idk yet.

Guys, is it smarter to let go of a relationship that's getting more and more toxic or is it smarter to try and try till you're all tapped out. Till you know you gave it your all and can walk away without regrets?
