Columbo analagy spot on, he'd be going on the door with guilty party feeling relief when he would double back with a killer question or summary. Pity you were not in charge of negotiations re unsecured bondholders.

Hi Terry, I love your KZfaq advice on property.. I have a question: I own an apartment in London, I bought it 24 years ago and as I don’t live in London I am unable to get a loan. I am Irish and wish to return home, am in my 60s. Can you advise me if it’s possible to get a loan in Ireland on my London apartment. The London apartment is always rented as it’s in a very good location. Any advice will be greatly appreciated and thank you.

Dymphna, the best thing to do is contact the lenders. They will tell you quickly enough if they would lend with the UK property as security but there may be a problem in trying to enforce the security if things went badly. Only they can tell you this, however.

Terry their is a bull in you some where. The more years we live, younger people see you as experienced. It is in the back of their mind you know what you are talking about.
