Watched this before mowing our lawn for the first time with the riding mower and it was so helpful! Covered all the highlights from the manual. I knew a few things my husband didn't and he's been using the rider for over a year. :-)

I do a lot of “How to Start and Operate” on different machines just because many people do not buy new so just like you said, the manual is ok but we all in my opinion do much better when we are able to watch something verses trying to translate what there trying to tell you in the manual. Excellent video. I have this exact mower. I've never had to do any repairs on it but the PTO lever has some play or has become very lose like disconnected out of nowhere. Do you have a video that shows how that lever is connected to whatever. Not sure how it works or what it's supposed to be connected too. Can I bypass that lever all together and just turn the key on the mode you did to not have to use it at all when reversing? It is a safety feature I don't care for

WOW, I've been doing it wrong the whole time, I used to press the brakes every time I move the gear lever and I used to shut the blades off to backup

I love this mower and your videos. Question is there a plug that will connect to hour meter if l wanted to add one?

You would have to check under the dash to see if there’s a plug. I would suggest looking for an hour meter kit online and try to read the instructions on how to install one. It may not be that hard to do. I have never had to put an hourmeter on the machineThat didn’t have one already.

At 1:43 I show the PTO handle. Just push it forward to engage the blades.

After this video maybe I will like my lawn tractor a little bit better. I hate mine so much that I don't like it taking up space in my shed. Just a waste of shed space.

If you have the throttle high and engage forward will the front of the lawn mower jump off the ground? Like a wheely???

Yes it could if you smash the peddle down quickly. If you just push the pedals slowly it should be smooth. If your pressing slowly and it jerks up the front end you may have stuck brakes or the hydro going bad.

Thanks for this video. I usually cut the grass,but the last time my husband did. When he went to do it again,it wouldn't start. He put it on charge and when he went to start it,it didn't even click. I think he left it on. Cuz when I went out to check it,it wasn't all the way to the left. I noticed the ignition seems a little loose. Is there an easy way to tighten it up? Thanks again.

Hi Linda, Depending on the nut that holds the ignition switch there is a large nut normally that you can tighten with normal pliers in a pinch or adjustable wrench. As far as the no start condition. Make sure the battery is charged and make sure the hardware to the cables going to the battery are clean and tight. This is a common no start issue.

Hello I just bought a craftsman mower just like yours yt3000. It is a 46 inch mower, would you happen to no the mower belt # ? I sure would appreciate it. And thanks a bundle.

To get the correct belt for your machine , you will need to get the model number from the sticker under the seat and go to sears parts direct online and look up the belt number. Once you have the belt number you can either order it from sears parts direct or cross the belt number to a aftermarket market belt possibly at your nearest auto store.

Question, I have the exact YT 3000 and I can’t find a fuel pump anywhere. Do you know where it is located and if it even has one

If you have a single cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine and the gas tank is in front of the steering wheel? You do not have a fuel pump. If your gas tank is in the rear under the seat? The fuel pump is on the left rear of the engine with three hoses connected to it.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines thank you so much I guess I don’t have one. I change all the fuel lines put in a new carburetor no fuel filters, no air filter no spark plug and the tractor still runs for two minutes and stalls out. I don’t know what else to do.

Check the transmission drive belt and how it is routed from engine to the transmission. It may have come out of place or you may have a bad transmission pulley? Broken transmission belt?

Check to make sure your seat safety switch is correctly plugged in and looks to be in good condition.
