@@dpfriedmanii thanks for the video! Straight to the point without all the unnecessary babbel! I have a question for you, what exactly is heating up the truck? The engine? Because I guessing that it is not an APU??
@paulfriedman2242 жыл бұрын
@@aedancael1717 the bunk heater is a small box inside/under your bunk that uses a small amount of your diesel fuel to ignite your enclosed heater element. The blower is a low voltage fan blower that runs of your battery. Your thermostat is the knob on the wall. When you hear it clicking that is the ignite electrical spark that lights the small furnace. It’s all very safe but you should not run the bunk heater and the truck at the same time. As a matter of fact, the AC control will override the bunk heater when the truck is on so they don’t work at the same time. It’s designed so that you don’t have to run your truck to stay warm. The bunk heater will cook you out if you let it.

Hey brother maybe you could help me out. I’mVERY me to the trucking industry and don’t know a whole lot about trucks and internal cab switches and all. But I’m about 2 months in now going over the road and definitely try to utilize all the power outlets I can find in the cab. I have a Volvo just like this one (not mine, not even the companies, but the company rents from Penske) and I’m trying to figure out why the actual power outlets that are in the truck (as seen under the bunk and also a couple up near where the fridge goes) why they don’t hold power. Not sure if it’s something as simple as a switch I’m missing. Or possibly a fuse that needs replacing... if you can help me greatly appreciated! Thanks brother and stay safe out there!!
@trentallman9843 жыл бұрын
You have to have an inverter to power those outlets. The truck is wired and the is a plug in under the bunk that goes right into the inverter. I used a 2000 watt Power Drive unit and it powers the microwave, tv, and a fan. I tried a 1500 but it couldn't take the microwave for more than 2 minutes. If you don't see anything next to the heater then you don't have one.

@paulfriedman224 Жыл бұрын
Usually depends on your temp setting + it usually starts slow then rises. If you are using the “cycles” mode and have the temp set near what the can already is, then the fan will blow just enough to balance the cab temp to your setting. Give it 30 mins. Mine is usually cooking me in that time like a sauna. Good luck!

Can I run the AC without the truck being on?
@paulfriedman2242 жыл бұрын
In order to do that, you need an APU which is a separate a/c unit usually connected to the outside of the rear of the cab that looks like a small radiator and is usually black.

I done this for the 1st time out of 6yrs of driving. Im sitting at a milk farm in upstate new york, its colder than a well's digger arse. There's a house near by so don't want to run truck but that fan down there is blowing cold air only. I can hear a knocking noise, not sure what that is, some say a fuel pump but I though it was just an electrical fan that runs off battery's
@dpfriedmanii3 жыл бұрын
@@dustym.111 I would recommend running the continuous mode and just use your thermostat. It takes a couple of minutes to warm up while blowing out. The blower fan runs very minimal juice from the batteries. Mine easily runs all night with no issues. Keep in mind, your parking brake must be engaged for bunk heater to run. Also, no idling. Good luck, let me know how it turns out.

Make sure the intake and the output are not blocked. A light clicking is normal as it is the electronic ignitor lighting up as the bunk heater actually uses diesel fuel as its fuel.
