This reminds me of awkward acting skits we had to do in elementary school, ha ha. But the information is very good. I am glad to learn I have been using my stove correctly. I never knew the latch could be adjusted though.

Just bought a house in snow country after living in tropical climates. Has a Blaze King stove, but no manual and the previous owner left no information. This video showed me all the important things to know. Mine has a different placement of the combuster so I need to figure out how to access it for inspection and cleaning, but otherwise I learned a lot here!

I've been running a blaze king princess for two years and I have never had a burn time over 7 hours and have to constantly adjust the air and my pipe in the basement gets 250 degrees and they act like no heat goes up the chimney. I'm highly disappointed I have not seen any of the perks that made me buy this overpriced inefficient stove should have just bought a cheap stove from a big box stores I feel like they sell these stoves on false advertising

We have an older BK Princess catalytic here in NW Wyoming. Our house has high bluffs on the north side… making it hard to run the stove with a north wind which comes down off the bluff and hits the stack with powerful downward currents. My solution was to open a window on the north side, creating overpressure in the house, forcing smoke UP the stack, and secondly, installing a Vacu-Stack chimney top with bird screen. I run the stove hot and clean the stack annually.

Our Blaze King Princess is from the 1980s and has a slightly different layout, but the instructions are the same. Glad to know the heat shield can be removed so easily in the newer models. Not sure how to remove it in the older model, but will check with our chimney sweep.

We have a Blaze King catalytic wood stove on the lowest level of the house, and a Hitzer anthracite coal stove out in the pantry/reloading/ham radio/feed building. Both are extremely good at producing heat. Anthracite is getting extremely expensive, so I might have to start burning cheap local sub-bituminous coal. Our local wood for the Blaze King is lousy old pine. I did haul a couple cords of hardwood from Wisconsin, but I burn that sparingly.

I have a brand new Blaze King Princess PE32 that has a single line of masking tape over the front of the catalytic converter. I thought about removing the converter to remove the tape but then read that you are not to remove the converter unless you have an extra seal. I do not. Question: Do I just tear off the part of the masking tape that obstructs the intake of the converter? I think it was put there for shipping purposes but really don't know.
@neilhudson61942 жыл бұрын
It will burn off when you have your first fire--they put it on to hold the converter gasket in place--should be mentioned in your manual

Is it OK to burn the stove wide open with the thermostat set on high for long periods? I'm talking hours
@blazeking9819 Жыл бұрын
You can run your stove on high. The thermostat will automatically close as the room heats up. But be careful, if you have placed your stove in an area the stove does not have enough energy to heat like um-insulated basement. The energy output of the stove will never heat the area and the thermostat will never close. This will over-fire your stove and ware it out prematurely. The stove is designed for habitable areas only.

What percentage of wood was burned during the full on 25 minute burn?
@blazeking9819 Жыл бұрын
We did not measure the wood volume as the purpose of the video was to concentrate on operation. It was a small percentage.
@prinzeugenvansovoyen7324 жыл бұрын
Does this stove have a active fan or is the smoke dragged through your catalyst by the warm chimney? How does the catalyst react with hydrocarbons, is this oven siuted to burn torf, brown coal, stone coal, leaves, larger amounts of paper, plastics, rubber or heating oil in addition/ instead of wood without smoke or other harmfull exhaust once it reaches working temperature? how much costs one such catalyst block if I want to build my own oven to siut my space or burning medium but since they need to be replaced once they are exhausted/ burned out and loose efficiency , presuably every 8 to 10 years with intensive saisonal use is it onley a oxidation catalyst or a catalytic pack like in cars that also has reduction catalyst for NO2
@daveslyker44313 жыл бұрын
Video said only burn dry wood
@alansach8437 Жыл бұрын
Cord wood only. Anything else will destroy the catalyst. Natural draw drags the smoke through the catalyst (it's the only place it can go!) Most of the smoke burns in the catalyst and there is normally no visible smoke coming out of the chimney (once the fire is hot, flue is closed and thermostat set).

@alansach8437 Жыл бұрын
The thermometer that comes with the stove only has "inactive" and "active" zones. You don't have to worry about the exact temperature. When the needle is in the "active" zone, close the flue, set the thermostat and enjoy the heat.
