Relly glad you liked the video. The next one explains which meditation techniques to use to grow and strengthen the TPN combat anxiety. Let me know if there’s a particular problem you want to see a video on, if it’s something I know about, it may stimulate me to make a vid about it.

I used alcohol to dampen down social anxiety but it stopped working I’d have to blackout to escape the anxiety, I quit drinking nearly 4 years ago but I still have anxiety socially , I find it very hard to be around people as I tend to get into conflict with them , I’m on duloxetine for it but it doesn’t really work , I’ve tried therapy but it was only a money pit ..

I suffered social anxiety most of my life and the getting into conflicts, I’ve totally overcome the social anxiety now and reduced the conflict issue. Meditation brain training played a significant part in me recovery, maybe 30-40%; therapy helped me and balancing my brain physiology.

Thank you for your informative videos. I was just wondering if anxiety is due atleast in part to an overactive DMN, do we know why drugs such as benzos and SSRIs or natural remedies like ashwaganda help at least gain some control of the condition? There's no doubt these things help but if they don't get to the cause, it seems that we need to be doing more as described in the video. It's like we could be taking these things for years but DMN is still festering away and overactive. Thank you :-)

Yes that is exactly what I observed over the years, my patients with anxiety would take either drugs or natural remedies to boost serotonin and GABA levels sometimes for years and although the symptoms were diminished you could tell that the anxiety was still there just sitting underneath these treatments and as soon as the treatments were discontinued the anxiety would return. The new understanding of anxiety disorders is it's the wiring or neural networks that are more important, it's not just a chemical imbalance. Serotonin and GABA boosting treatments can help to dampen down the overactivity in the brain circuits and structures that are hyper- active in the anxious brain but I've never seen them lead to a long-term reduction or cure when used on their own. On the other hand brain training techniques and good psychotherapy can create neuro plastic rewiring such that the brain is no longer hypervigilant towards potential threats. It's been observed in humans and modelled in animal experiments that exposure to prolonged or severe stress in infancy results in growing bigger amygdala than average and this persists throughout life; these brains now have more connections and hardware scan for and detect potential threats. Prolonged stress during adult life could also result in neuro plastic growth and development of anxiety neuro circuitry and even after the stresses past the neuro circuits that grew and developed are left behind. Another issue is over activation of the brain's stress response HPA axis which produces cortisol results in the amygdala becoming less sensitive to GABA and because GABA is a calming neurotransmitter it means the amygdala becomes hyperactive. This becomes a Catch-22 because now the hyperactive amygdala keeps over activate the HPA axis maintaining high levels of cortisol… The solution to this problem is again brain training to teach the brain how to switch off the HPA axis. If you'd like a free recording and how to do this go to my website to get my email and I can send it to you. When you first hear this it can be quite upsetting but the good news is we now know we can change this situation by growing and developing counterbalancing circuits and also we can shrink and diminish the activity in an overactive amygdala. Furthermore we can reprogram the (software) programming that makes scary connections in our amygdala and in our hippocampus memory banks. One of the key factors that drives neuroplasticity is novelty or the introduction of new experiences, this is important because the anxiety circuitry in the anxious brain is already well-established and having anxious thoughts is not new so there's not much growth continuing in these areas, it's more just maintenance; however when we introduce new brain training activities these circuits grow rapidly. It does take several months of work to achieve results with these techniques and unfortunately many people won't feel an instant change in the same way that drugs or remedies can produce an instant change so they give up without giving these techniques time to work. Once you have achieved significant neuro plastic change the results are basically permanent and if they start to wear off you can just repeat the exercise. What I'm currently working on is taking a cocktail of Chinese herbs and natural remedies that boost neuroplasticity about 40 minutes before performing the meditation brain exercises to boost the maximum possible neuro plastic change. I got 2 more videos coming out the next couple of days one on the science behind the task positive network and then a practical demonstration, which I think you'll find interesting if you don't want to miss these you could consider subscribing to my channel and clicking the notifications bell, when you do that it also boosts my channel to help spread the word :-)

Thank you, that's really good information. I would certainly be interested in further videos so happy to subscribe. I guess one of the heart breaking things about that is that a very young person could be set up for life very early on and have no real concept of what it's like without anxiety. It just kind of becomes the norm until he/she gains some insight in some way. I do have anxiety myself, particularly social anxiety where I just seem to be very alert around people for no logical reason obviously making it no fun at all. I'd be interested in if the techniques you will talk about it in coming videos would benefit this particular issue. Thank you :-)

Yes it is heartbreaking, in addition to very young people the tragedy is that people may go through the whole life carrying traumatic memories and programming in the hippocampus and amygdala which affects their stress levels, physical health, psychology and behaviour. I used to have social anxiety from an early age and it progressively got worse, it was just like you described for no logical reason I would feel very anxious and panicky around people in particular group sizes and situations; my heart rate would jump to over 150 beats a minute and it put me off socialising, I also had extreme panic with public speaking. I have completely overcome these now and even started public speaking; the brain is truly changeable, my needs to be programmed to produce such a big fear response from public speaking that I would physically puke up but now it totally doesn't bother me. You can begin with several months of general re-sculpting of your brain using meditation brain training to grow and develop your TPN (I have videos on that if you haven't seen them), then do several months of a combination of classic open monitoring style mindfulness whilst at the same time bringing up anxious thoughts and feelings in little waves and loops in your mind. Finally after you've rewired and re-sculpted the neuro circuitry causing your social anxiety you can use NLP/hypnosis type psychotherapies to

I must say, that is extremely impressive that you have overcome both the social anxiety and the fear of public speaking with the techniques you have described. It's great to know at least that the brain is in fact neuroplastic which makes it less upsetting. Thank you, I'll try and make some progress with the techniques you have mentioned.

@@messiah_genes1117 It is remarkable just how much the brain can be changed and then how much this changes our psychology, but it does take consistent work over a couple of years to genuinely transform a mental health problem. I've only just started making videos, got a lot more to make :-) Starting a new updated website as well www.petersmituk.com

Jello, I have started to fear death and the always think of death. I want my mind to be normal but i am in constant fear. This has caused me to have a fast beating heart, a dry tongue and much more. Please help me, how do i switch this fear in my brain off
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 3 жыл бұрын
Please remember it’s just an illness messing with your mind and thinking. Making you think of death. It takes a lot of work and quite some time but you can change this type of problem. Start with rewiring your brain with meditation, at least 150-200 hours over 9 months. Try EMDR, NLP, CBT, lucid dreaming to fast the fear while you dream. Then do more meditation then more therapy, just keep going the brain is rewireable (not sure that’s a word). Good luck with your healing journey

There is no such thing of the task positive network or the default mode network. you need to read the book Sally M. Winston PsyD and 1 more Overcoming Unwanted Intrusive Thoughts: A CBT-Based Guide to Getting Over Frightening, Obsessive, or Disturbing Thoughts.
