Oh my God... I cannot tell you just how grateful I am for this video!!! I'm 47 but with both hands and all my fingers totally stuffed with Arthritis, its impossible for me to roll up and hold a sleeping bag tight to get it in the bag. And I've got three sleeping bags to pack. I did exactly what you said with the first bag and damn! I was pretty proud of myself!!!

Dude you are a legend!! Literally just accidentally found your video ! Been camping dor years and always used to roll the bag and pack then. After seeing this ran down to the shed found my sleeping bag and tried your way! Literally the whole bag got smaller in half than before lol ! Legend bro!! Thank you!!

Had a problem stuffing my down sleeping bag which I bought in Nepal, try to fold it several times and won't fit through. I remember the seller in Nepal just crumpled it into the compression pack and I found this video, it's indeed just needed to be crumpled to the compression pack! Most useful video ever!!!!

This is brilliant, thank you! It’s coming into the warmer months so I just took my winter sleeping bags out of the swag they are darche 900 rated -12 sleeping bags so are quite thick and very good for the colder months. I just spent way to much time rolling them up and trying to squeeze them into the bag but every time they would get fatter and fatter, I got frustrated and thought there would have to be a better way so I jumped on KZfaq. This is the first video I watched and both bags are back in there keeper bags and stored with in 5 minutes. I will never roll a bag ever again this tip is the best. Thank you for making the video

Awesome video Snowys Outdoors. I just got a down bag for Christmas and I made the mistake of folding it in half and rolling it up like the manufacturer had done. I asked myself if there has to be an efficient way to pack this and thanks to y’all there sure is. I have been packing my sleeping bags incorrectly my whole life.

I've had a sleeping bag with a belt around it for many years because i could never roll it up tight enough to get it back in the bag, after watching this i just stuffed it in the original bag easily, i can't believe no one ever told me this. Thank you.

Great video. Thanks. I just bought a Coleman sleeping bag and it is IMPOSSIBLE to roll tight enough to get it back in the bag. Stuffing it makes it possible. But it's still a tough battle.

Very glad I found this. Rolling the bag up is a freaking nightmare because the material is so slippery it's not even holding it's shape no matter how tightly I roll it. So frustrating

Hi DjPepelicious, you're best storing a down bag uncompressed in a breathable bag, this allows for the down to remain lofted and keeps things dry and fresh. Most good down bags will come with a cotton or mesh storage sack that will accommodate the bag is a loosely packed fashion. If your bag does not have one of these then you can use a large pillowcase or similar, then store it in the top of a cupboard or somewhere it won't be too squashed in. ~ Ben

good video. how much can I squish a standard dry bag ? struggling to get my kit in my rucksack but if really compacted the dry bag I would have more space to work with.

If your sleeping bag sack is a compression sack you should be 100% ok to squish it as much as you're physically able. If your bag comes with a stuff sack and not a compression one, its generally an indication that it shouldnt be compressed. Just triple check your bags specs to make sure compression wont damage the insulation. ~ Lauren

Trying to reroll my 9 year olds sleeping bag for her camp in two weeks. Shes been so keen for her first camp that she has been sleeping in it the the past few nights. Hey Ben, I have Oz Tent River gum XL's. In another Snowys video it shows how to FOLD them, but what do you think with that particular model ??. BTW, I totally agree with the stuffing method. Cheers.

Yeah, good point BigKev. The Rivergum Sleeping Bags come with zippered storage sacks that are not conducive to stuffing. The same principle still applies though, I guess you can mitigate repetitive folding by packing it up slightly differently each time so the folds fall in different spots, or do the zip up part way on the storage bag and stuff it in being careful not to damage the zip. Alternatively, find yourself a stuff sack and use that instead. I'm not sure why some manufacturers use zippered bags, stuff sacks have always been my preference. ~ Ben
