With the cost of all paint types going up, spending a little more on a gun that atomizes better to give better results will pay for itself quickly. Think about the cost of materials to fix a problem as well as your unpaid time to fix it. As a DIY guy, I have struggled with a cheaper gun for base and clear having problems that take me hours to fix or strip and respray. It is frustrating to chase down bad results and fix them. After investing in good base and clear guns, my results improved drastically. I am not good enough to work a cheap gun to get good results, but I can spray a great gun to get good results.

Thank you Kandyman for the basics videos. Sometimes back to basics is where we need to look back especially on the getting the correct color and checking the chips before even attempt to paint. I saw alot painters skip this steps and eventually found out the color is way off. I hope to see you show us color tinting maybe in next video? That would be great as there aren't much videos on color basics tint.

Oh yeah. Can you cover psi, coats, drop coats, modifier etc with waterborne. Do you use din 4 cup or just percent? I have only done small parts with enviriobase and it came out great. Drop coat was super easy. Do you double control coat? Only certain metallics? Doing a respray soon. Thanks for everything kandy.

Don't know if you have used it but I like using finish 1 fc 720 clear coat. It's good and budget friendly. Use fc 740 super brilliant for something more showy

Just recently found out about you thru paint society and this is the first video i sat and watched every second of. Im a young ppg painter myself, thank you for being giving all the advice you can and talking about almost every little step we painters have to do. One thing i struggle with now is color matches and just having to tint so much, how can i be more efficient in my shop trying to match, checking colors and doing spray outcards and not wasting so much time on that?

I’ve noticed using Scan sealer I get gloss drop off in the clear coat when I drys compared to panels that I haven’t used scan sealer on but I think 🤔 that’s normal with that product

I was told to use one when I sprayed the bumper on my Miata years ago. I want to shoot the whole car now after I take out a few dings and such. If so, can I use it on the rest of the car too? hey candy man i buy paint already mixed i just add reducer and i have alot of trouble getting the color rigth since they give me a different type of color even when i try to blend it some times the color is too far off so even blending doesnt work i am working at home is there anything i can do to make it better. only happens in metallic colors the other color are fine

"blend panels" simply panels that will receive only clear coat...dont "burn" the base coat during prep. correct?

Thanks for the video. Going back to basics on color matching, I typically have good success with matching color painting metal panels. However, when I use the same base paint and clear on plastic bumper it turns out a shade or two darker than a fender painted using exact same paint supplies. I mean fender and bumper painted on the same day using exact same materials. Can you or anyone else tell me what I am doing incorrectly and what needs to improve?

Hi kandy man your dead right was telling your mate or buddy Brian on Instagram and you tube got my bumper painted he used a,spectrometer takes pictures and the bumper is totally different colour from the car he used a computer to mix the paint solvent Mipa now the bumper has to be re painted and a blend he said on the wings 😮

Not bashing by any means. You are a great painter. But you failed to mention clean air in your air line. That makes a big difference . A lot of people that do it at there house don't have the they dryer a shop has . Can you do a video on a cheap way to do it

Hi, I have a question, after paint jop is finished, you can still touch up clearcoat (only clearcoat, not basecoat) in some local areas (when everything has dried).or do I have to do everything again sanding + base coat + clear coat...Another question is: can I let the 1K base coat dry for 1 day and then sand it with P1000 or P1200 and then spray clear coat over it? or drying time between base coat and clear coat should not be too long (for good adhesion of clearcoat ) .in some videos they say that I should not wait longer than 30 minutes otherwise the clear coat will not stick properly.but 30 minutes seems like a very short time to me thank you very much,,have a nice day
