How to paint feathers

Hey everyone, so this is a quick rundown on how i hand paint feathers, there are MANY ways to go about painting these and all different style feathers, this is just the one way i do them, Look up different references to get inspiration on feathers.
i used 1shot- white and tan
Ronan- black
and 1shots high temp reducer
mack 179 size 6
mack virus 2nd edition size 1
cleaned with mineral spirts

That is an amazing looking feather I have been trying to learn how to paint a feather for months I am getting ready to get my stuff out and try this technique

Thank you for sharing this with us. I used this method to paint my first feathers and they came out great. I did them by hand first, and then did a set using an airbrush and they came out even better. I wish there was a way that I could share what I've done with you. ;-)

Ok so when you do a feather like the turquoise one. Are you still using black to mix in your base coat. If so then it would be blk,wht and whatever color you choose.

Hey Oscar the turquoise one i used white, black and aqua for my base and maybe just a tad of tan I already forget haha but I could totally just use those 3 colors if I wanted, you can use more also if you choose

@@HotRodJenPinstriping ok so any color that you would make the tip will be part of the base coat. Or is the tan,wht,blk best to use always as a base.

@@oscarm.4857 thats just how I like to do it, its not set in stone sometimes you will have a totally different color style feather to paint like a all brown one with no tip thats a different color
