I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You top level fellas just giving away your knowledge is equivalent to the golden goose teaching us all how to lay non metallic metal golden eggs. I am extremely grateful. This was phenomenal to watch. Thank you.

This is how Van Gogh painted his works. Where it's all about the addition of layers to build texture so that it visually blends due to the depth rather than technically blending each colour on the palette. It gives surfaces far more interest. This has always been one of my favourite styles to paint in. It's so much fun as you can make things work that wouldn't work when using a more traditional 'Renaissance' blending method.

This is amazing. I see so many attempts at painting NMM that just look awful, like just gradients without thinking where reflections are, that I started to hate that technique. And then you appeared and gave me hope again. Thank you, great job.

Okay, I have a few things to say about this... 1. I really don’t get why these masterpieces of tutorials don’t get more views and why you are not like at 200k followers already. That’s just bullocks. 2. This gold NMM looks just insanely beautiful. Funnily enough I’ve done my first NMM mini paintjob today and boy do I have to learn a lot.. But this is just everything I wanted it to be. I honestly was thinking about painting my Dominion Stormcasts in a NMM style and THIS will be my reference. 3. Honestly, Richard. This might sound a bit weird but I didn’t want this to end. :D I‘m thoroughly enjoy your long, relaxing and beautiful tutorials. They are just a pleasure to watch/listen to and I feel like I could watch you paint for hours and learn a lot. And I can’t wait for what you‘ve got next up your sleeve. Thank you very much!!!

This is the tutorial I needed for painting my Sigvald. I want to do nmm gold on his armor but have been feeling intimidated by the prospect of doing it well. There’s a kind of roughness to painting this that makes me feel more comfortable with with the technique.

It was really cathartic to watch you slowly scratch away at this model and hearing you narrate it. Personally I really love it when the brush strokes are visible, but then at arm's length or on the table top it all blends together really well. Amazing job! One thing I really struggle with myself is how to deal with direction of the light source. I noticed in the penultimate section (when painting the back of the right shoulderpad) you highlighted the model as if the light was coming at it from about the same angle as the front, only from the opposite direction. In a real life scenario (assuming the sun is your light source) you would only really get those highlights on the front of the model, whereas the back of the model would be much darker and duller. I understand that in order to make the model more interesting to look at, you may want to "cheat" in this manner and highlight the back of the model in a similar manner to the front, to emulate perhaps the character having turned around and now having the sun in their back. I find this effect very tricky to wrap my head around, where to place the second highlight as to not make it look very weird from the side. What are your thoughts on this? :)

Gotta say, didn’t really understand what they meant by high contrast and asymettrical lighting. After throwing myself at nmm for a week it’s insane to see how incredible this guy is, it’s insane how beautiful this comes out with his techniques.

On those thigh plates, I think it's odd that you chose to put the highlight on the upper part of the plate given that light tends to "slide" downward on metal. The brightest spot of reflection often ends up towards the bottom of a surface like that. You showed that on the lightning bolt right next to it, which led to a bit of an awkward visual composition.

13:36 I gonna be honest, my attention kept being drawn by the imperfection in the armor (especially the right shoulder). That being said, I am very anal about how clean my models need to be. Also the way you paint can accentuate imperfections; for example airbrushing, dry brushing will highlight them more than regular brush painting.
