I'm learning what perfection means from your paintings. Oil painting has been dream of my life, your lessons encouraged me to start to do it. I am painting a fake window showing nature on a kitchen wall, because the bigger is the easier for a beginner like me. My wife really loves it, she and my daughters help some parts, the moment we do it together is so previous. It is absolutely one of the most difficult and enjoyable hobby too. Just found you. Your amazing. I started out in tole. I got into painting sawblades & have been told I add a lot of detail. I’m going to use yours techniques now. I do custom work of people’s homesteads & such. But I’m going to go back to canvas as well, as I love realism. You are very generous with you knowledge. Thank you

Sensational video Michael. I'm always excited when you work on water [that's ''work'' not ''walk''..lol]. I have been using soft pastels for the past 35 years and my key subject is refractions in water, Those illusive light traces under the water that dart about on the bottom of a river or the shallows of the sea. I have adapted the subject to oils and was curious if you'd attempted any various techniques that capture these amazing light refractions. Cheers and keep up the stellar work.

It is fascinating to see how a painting is constructed. I always wanted master painting, but i have massive compulsion to details, like every rock and stroke has to have a meaning (i did only scifi). Then i tried to take magnifying glass to dig in and add more detail like it would matter. When i did not achieve my goals, i got depressed.

The camera distance from the board is ideal. It would be good to see some super close up stills of the finish in the brush stokes, just to get an idea of where to see where painterly meets photorealism if that were at all possible. I'd be curious to see the finish of certain brush strokes that you use, knowing there is an optimum viewing distance once the piece is finished thanks Michael. I know an enormous amount goes into each production both painting and videoing and I understand my request might seem a tad excessive, cheers mate.
