Have you seen a blue morning glory flower? THey might look familiar, and that is because they are a type of bindweed! But this weed is so pretty I had to paint it! If you want to learn to paint some quick and easy watercolour flowers then this is the tutorial for you!

You will also need kitchen roll, a pencil, eraser

Paynes Grey
Cobalt Blue Deep
French Ultramarine Blue
Imperial Purple
Buff Titanium
Yellow Ochre

I used to plant Morning Glory every year and they were known for only opening the blooms in the morning and we mixed them with the Moonflower that opened the blooms at night, for an all day show. Non invasive and not the bindweed, although very similar. Loved the tutorial! 😊

Heavenly Blue morning glories are not a bindweed. They don’t self seed. They grow as Annuals in my garden which I start from seeds every May. They usually bloom in September. I love them💙 Love your painting💙

Yes. Morning glory and bindweed are different. Morning glories can be invasive. I planted one seed packet and it comes up where I don’t want it year after year

@@TheSwissy4me the Heavenly Blue ones do not come back, but the purple & pink ones do. One of the purple ones is called Grandpa Ott. I grow the purple & pink ones in pots and they self seed every year which I love the fact I don’t have to buy seeds for them.

My Mom planted blue Morning Glories every year in Michigan when I was growing up. They were so pretty! I never knew they were a weed! They grew on a trellis and looked just like your picture!!

I feel the same way about bindweed - constantly fighting it in my garden but the flowers are so pretty. I painted one the other day actually. I'll give these blue ones a go soon, too. Thanks for the tutorial!

Bindweed and Morning Glory have different leaves, even though they are in the same family, they are different. The bindweed has narrow leaves, while the glories have a fuller heart shaped ones, and aren't as invasive. Just a little FYI. 😊 Love this painting of the morning glory!

My mom planted Morning Glories last year and they are everywhere this year! They survived our harsh winter and replanted themselves. I see why they're considered an invasive weed. They are beautiful though.

In Oregon, on the US west coast, where I grew up, this was known as morning glory. It was considered a weed and grew everywhere! The vines are pernicious and difficult to pull out. I did think them pretty, and often painted them as a child. 🎉

Bindweed and Morning Glories are different plants. Bindweed has smaller leaves and I think they are perennial or reseed each year. We grow Morning Glories from seeds in the spring. The Heavenly Blue Morning Glories are my favourite but, if you plant the variegated ones too close to them, the variegated ones will over power the Heavenly Blue ones. Right now, I have a lot of weeds in my garden. I wish some of them were as beautiful as the Bindweed. Thanks for your videos. It's fun to follow along.

Although bind weed is a pain in the garden I love the flowers we called them granny pop out of bed as children

The ones I grow are not perennials. The blue have a pinkish red in the middle. They're very pretty!

But Morning Glories come in blue and purple and magenta, and are beautiful. Oh no, don’t call it a weed. I remember them from y childhood! Aha! The domesticated morning glories have large heart shaped leaves that appear to be important elements of the plants. They are sold in seed packets, and need lots of sun. That is not to say I don’t fall in love with weeds. But my morning glories, they ain't weeds ha ha
