They make a thing that you can put on a spray can to where you dont use your finger to push the button. You use two fingers and squeeze it. Works a whole lot better and you dont get the paint all over your fingers. And the thing doesnt cost that much and is reusable.

I’ve been painting cars in a collision environment for the past 20 yrs. The #1 best tip for application is so not apply the paint so wet! Especially on 1st coat. Med wet coats until coverage is achieved will give the best results and better for curing.

In regards to getting your glove in the way of the nozzle, you should be holding your finger back far enough to preclude you spraying your finger tip. Another option is to wrap all 4 fingers around the can and use the tip of your thumb to press down directly on the nozzle, easing the strain on your finger and further preventing you getting a digit in front of the nozzle.

Good tutorial. Seems to me that spraying the inside first lightly would be the first thing to prevent handling the outside trying to do it after it's been sprayed. Any overspray or build up on the inside after spraying the outside vent surfaces wouldn't be visible anyway.

Man, I’ve used countless cans of Aluma-Hyde and spray paint on my guns and I still learned a few things by watching this. There’s so many different/contradicting posts and vids out there on applying Aluma-Hyde. I’m glad you put one out straight from the horses mouth. Your comment about loose gloves literally just happened to me last week with your Earth Brown going on a 10-22… Totally my fault but luckily I caught it instantly and didn’t end up with any runs. Solid series here Bro. Thanks.

Wolf Gray being delivered tomorrow! I don’t want to use our kitchen oven to cure, can I technically cure by hand using a heat gun (receivers and hand guard) while monitoring with a temp gun? Keep around 195 and sit there for 3 hours lol 😂. I don’t want to wait 2 weeks for air cure, I want to assemble and go to our range ASAP!

An old gas grill makes a good paint oven, as long as you NEVER cook with it again! And you can control the temps low enough, and the paint does NOT catch on fire!

Caleb always does one coat only. Alumahyde is meant to go on thin and if you are using the proper spray technique, one coat is plenty. Remember, any additional coats must be done within 30 min of the first coat or after the coat is fully cured.

Oh ,just so you can show people how scientific you really are ,the reason the paint won't adhere until it's fully cured is because the pain produces gas as it dries and if you put a coat on before that stops the paint can't bond to the vapor being released .
