Save yourself 5min and just press and hold MENU and VOLUME + for 5sec Close to Apple TV :)

Simpler Version 1. Click and hold at the same time "Menu" & "Volume Up" 2. Make sure that the remote your trying to pair is near the "Apple TV Device" 3. At the right hand corner of your "Apple TV" screen will and should say if you have paired it YOUR WELCOME!

I need the remote to appear on the Bluetooth screen of my 4th Generation tv so I can check for updated firmware. I pressed menu and vol up bottoms at once but I didn’t any commands. Any suggestions?

I have two Apple remotes and cannot get either to sync. Letting them get a full recharge tonight and try again tomorrow. Also, if that doesn’t work I plan to program an old DVD remote.

Thanks I put mine in the wash so it works on my family room tv and not my bedroom. I just used the iphone as a remote. Thanks so much. It synced in the bedroom before with no problem but this time it is different. Went with the sec option. Thanks again. Now my phone has to stay charged lol, But it works.

I’m not trying to pair it to the Apple tv but my actual tv so the volume up and down works it used to work and since I had to repair the Apple remote to the Apple TV now the volume up and down don’t work

You probably don't need to pair with your TV you just point to it and try raising the volume, it should work actually.

You got a fix for my apple remote broo? BE ALOT COOLER IF YA' DID! That was a whoooole lot of explaining how remotes work to in the end just tell me to refer to the app on the iphone... dont think thats a fix for my apple tv remote..

none of it worked, I charged the remote and can see the light flash on my apple tv when i press buttons but it does nothing, the phone still works with it. When i hold the buttons no prompt comes up.

For all those who want a laugh my problem ended up being that somehow my Apple TV got swapped for the old second 2nd gen that was left there. oof, that probably not a common problem 😂
