Easy trick to halve a fraction: just double the denominator, or bottom number. 3/8" becomes 3/16". Thanks for the video.

Thank you for providing this downloadable pattern. After cutting out the pieces to fit my head, I finished sewing it up today. It turned out well! I used some felt pieces and remnants from a past project, attaching the fabric hat pieces to the felt pieces first. This provided structure for the hat as well as eliminating the need to line it . I finished around the edge of the brim with a bias-like tape (cut on the cross-grain selvedge to selvedge rather than on the bias), making it match a 1" wide strip I incorporated around the crown piece. Again my thanks for your hat pattern and knowledge you pass along to allow us to enjoy making this project.

I have watched many videos and made many hats as sample hats unfortunately they did not fit to the given pattern or size. This one is quiet different and the way you taught of cutting the patter was understandable. Love to listen since it was just simply talking only to the bucker hat pattern type. Nor less nor more. Thank you 😊 and looking forward to stich a bucket hat Tonite. In my spare time

Very clear video; thank you. 🤩Suggestion: It would be great to see a/some videos to make variations of this hat. For example, I'd like to see a video on how to make different head pieces for this brim pattern. I'd like a 6 panel curved top hat with 2 different heights. (In other words, not a bucket hat style; no tip and crown sections.) Also, a sun visor hat using a variation of this brim pattern.

Thank you!! So if i want my brim to stick out more than drip down, do i not take out as much in the wedges? And if i want the crown to flare out slightly do i make wedges toward the tip (flat circle on top of head)? I'm looking to make more of a sun hat with a wide brim sticking out flat than the actual bucket hat dropping down over my ears. I also want to sew a flap onto the back half to shade my neck. I have one i use for yard work that is neon orange with reflective strips but i need one for the days i am working at the food pantry outside for hours. I'm so excited to have found your tutorial and I appreciate all the details you put into it! Many Blessings to you!

Hi. The hat top oval needs a register to match your measurements, or did I miss something? That is, your drawing a one inch square lets us know if we are on the same scale. You explain the process well.
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture 2 жыл бұрын
Be sure to print at full size without scaling, and always measure the oval before you begin. The ovals are designed to be adjusted, as explained in the accompanying instructions.

Is it possible to have an adjustable hat? Using elastic or a tie? I've sewn for 50 years but new to hats and new to selling. Tiny farmers market where I retired. I could guess on logical degrees of head sizes but keep thinking how to do to reduce having to make so many inventory. Like having small, medium, large. I'm also going to be using denim and fabric scraps to make fabric.

There are no 1” test squares on your crown templates? Not sure if my printer is printing the correct size for these templates?
@StitchingVulture
@StitchingVulture Жыл бұрын
The templates are designed to be altered. After measuring your head, measure the corresponding head size then adjust it as needed according to the instructions. When printing, be sure to print "actual size."

Fantastic teacher. I have a doubt, when I downloaded the pdf file named “head sized information” I cut the 3° line from the centre CF/CB wit the 21.75 size. Then I follow your video “How to Pattern a Bucket Hat”. I didn’t see the same size but you wrote 21 ½ . Given that I am Italian, and my unit of measure is different I don’t want to make any mistake and cut the perfect shape my problem is 21.75 inch or 21 ½ inch? Thank you very much
