How far is the "pink" mark(from the hat brim)?.."You "forgot" to add the pink mark " measurement".
@StitchingVulture29 күн бұрын
When you pink the edge, there is no measurement. Just stay within the seam allowance.

Easy trick to halve a fraction: just double the denominator, or bottom number. 3/8" becomes 3/16". Thanks for the video.

Wow wow, I just finished with this pattern and construction! What amazing instruction, it came out perfect! I can't wait to make many more! And I learned so much in the process (it's my first sewing project in a long while). Thanks for making the time and sharing, I'm grateful!

I am very grateful for this video; you explained it well. I have a question which is very important for me. I have done many batik projects and never dipped the fabric in water. I mostly remove wax by ironing the fabric with newspapers. A few months back, I started to remove wax with boiling water, but I faced the issue that the wax did not remove properly even after 2 hot baths. what do you suggest? should I use anything else for this? and one important thing I love to do is batik with silk paints.
@StitchingVultureАй бұрын
Depending on the thickness of the wax, and the type of the wax, you might need to use a combination of techniques. Some dry cleaners will remove wax for you, but you'll need to check with them first. You can get naptha paint thinner, but it is a very harsh chemical and shouldn't be used indoors or without lots of personal protection.

Thank you!! So if i want my brim to stick out more than drip down, do i not take out as much in the wedges? And if i want the crown to flare out slightly do i make wedges toward the tip (flat circle on top of head)? I'm looking to make more of a sun hat with a wide brim sticking out flat than the actual bucket hat dropping down over my ears. I also want to sew a flap onto the back half to shade my neck. I have one i use for yard work that is neon orange with reflective strips but i need one for the days i am working at the food pantry outside for hours. I'm so excited to have found your tutorial and I appreciate all the details you put into it! Many Blessings to you!

The flatter the brim, the more it will stick out.

Are the sides of the crown supposed to be lumpy?
@StitchingVulture6 ай бұрын
No, the sides should be smooth. Check the size of the brim head opening. It might be restricting the crown.

Mark the lines of the fabric on the pattern to match your stripes as you cut, and cut the pieces individually rather than with folded fabric.

Thank you, this was an excellent sewing video on how to make a boater. I want to make one for a boy doll that I made by referring to a 1913 paper doll illustration. After seeing how it’s done. I guess it would take at least three days to make even though it’s small (around 13” diameter).
