What I particularly love about this interview is the back and forth between Francis and Iain over the various topics, particularly over people's different perceptions on awakening. I think this is a great example of the perfect debate. Two respectful men, both knowledgeable in their field trying to find truth together. Hope you enjoy.

Interesting interview. I remember watching this when it was first published by Conscious TV, probably 12 or more years ago. At the time I emailed Iain McNay asking him why it was such a difficult interview. He said that, compared to their amicable and free flowing conversation the evening before, Francis just 'clammed up'. Watching it again in 2024 it's clear that Francis didn't 'clam up' he just said what needed to be said in response to the questions with remarkable economy, and didn't give Iain's mind anything to get hold of.

I watched a video about someone who learned under Jean Klein , he said that, any time you were with him, you would feel like you were being grinded down. Ego cannot withstand speaking to someone like Francis, because he's not a person. All he knows is truth, and that's it. Kind of rude of him to say that, but it's true that anyone who speaks with Francis will realize it's like speaking to a cheese grater. When you ask Francis a question, if it's from the vantage point of a separate self, he'll turn the answer into the question you should have asked in the first place. He's not there to appease the separate self, in fact, he does not even see one. And that's why he's so effective if you get the courage to speak with him :)

great conversation. loved the entanglement near the end and how the interviewer took his armor off. It was like a fully realized human in the face of truth

Ian feels threatened as a person by the silence. Hence the discomfort. Ends up being a great video as most of us should feel that same discomfort which points to what isn’t true.
