I've had all sorts of problems with pitching my Lanshan 2 as it never quite worked out the way I wanted it to. Once I realised that the straps were actually threaded in backwards (had to swap them around) then life was 100% better. I then watched a video from Bigfoot who was pitching his Zpack Duplex tent and used the method in today's video. Thanks, Bigfoot!
Please share your tips and advice in the comments below so we can all learn from each other. Thanks.

Great video! I recommend users apply seam sealer to those circles where the cords attach to the tent (the ones you didn’t use). Those help pull the tent walls out for more internal space, especially for us tall people. The sealant helps assure those contact points don’t leak, which seems to be an issue with some users. Otherwise, I love my Lanshan!

This is great! Going to the park to try this today. One thing I do when setting up mine is after spreading the floor and fly out, I put a pole in and erect it once before staking the fly out. That will draw the sides of the fly in so you know exactly where to put the stakes. That helps reduce the number of times you have to restake.

Thanks for your comment Motueka. I've just returned from a very windy winter hike in the UK and the pole ripped a big hole in my tent (user error not the pole's fault). I had to bunk in with a friend in the early hours which was not great. I used Size126cm-Packed 46cm pole from AliExpress, but would now recommend getting the pole caps to go with it (or stick to trekking poles in windy conditions). I hope that helps? ATB - Julia

Dont forget to silnet every seam before you use in rain. Also a little waterproof seal spray on the seams after would do wonders just incase you over look a part of the seam.

I just bought this tent I have pitched it once to make sure it's ok and I untied the wee knots on the guy rope 🤣 I managed to work it out though. Do you have any tips on how to reduce the gap between the ground and fly sheet where the zip is for the doors. I am worried about the wind and rain getting under. I am going to try setting my poles at different sizes but any other help would be great

Hi Gus, it’s a great tent and I now have two! A 4 season and a 3 season. When it’s windy I set my poles to 120 and if it’s snowing and windy I set them to 115cm. Good luck and thanks for taking the time to to comment.

Thanks Julia, I've watched 5 vids each one showing a different way to pitch the Lanshan 2. Your way certainly seems to be the neatest and strongest, especially if it's a bit windy. What got me was the little double clip thing that attaches to the doors. Nowhere do the instructions tell you how that works. Question: what do you have on the end of your carbon fibre pole to make it rounded so as not to damage the tent material?
@TheAdventureGeek
@TheAdventureGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob - I googled "pole mushroom" and bought one from a backpacking website. Since then, I now use bamboo toppers (they are cheap and much smaller and do the job perfectly - amzn.to/3hFqvsU - hope this helps)
@johnmcmullin7384

Unusual set up, but it looks a solid job. Will certainly give it a try. Just one query, though. Why aren't the loops on the footprint attached to the pegs? Is this because this particular footprint has no loops?
@TheAdventureGeek
@TheAdventureGeek 2 жыл бұрын
Good point - I do actually have little yellow pegs that I use if it is windy and yes, there are loops in the footprint. I would peg it out separately though as you want the footprint to be smaller than the tent.
@Alegalway
@Alegalway 4 жыл бұрын
One more question, as you say the first layer is a bit high from the ground, does this affect the quality of the resting? Like wind, water or cold getting into the tent. Thank you in advance.
@TheAdventureGeek
@TheAdventureGeek 4 жыл бұрын
If it is windy or bad weather then I use my trekking poles at a smaller level to keep the gap as a minimum. It's really handy to have the flexibility. I have not had any issues with condensation and I think this tent is awesome. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your LS2. - ATB - Julia

If you are extremely silly like me and untied those knots because you thought it was a tangle in the cord ... from the base of the black clip with two hooks that attaches to the bottom of the 'doors its 63 cm (or 25 inches for any Americans watching)

I read that it's better LS2, because there is not too much difference about the weight of both tent. I'm also 186 CMS high and LS1 could be too short for me, what do you think about both questions? Thanks in advance.

@@Alegalway Yeah not much difference in weight, but def more room in the LS2 for a taller person... the LS1 would be pretty tight lengthways
