Worry less about waffling dude, you have so much knowledge - it can't be communicated in one sentence. I've watched 30 of your videos today, the "waffle" is the best bits becausd it provides insight into why as much as how. Love your work mate 🙏

Spot on about people who do that 6 week puppy course and then think that's all the training they need. My friend got a puppy right after we got X and we went through the same intro 6 week course. She put her puppy in a harness and allowed her dog to have full run of the house (because it was too hard to keep the dog in a limited space which is what we did with X). Now her dog lunges, cannot walk in a leash and is out of control at 18 months. She has needed to have her dog in a board and train and she's super frustrated. She always says 'I did the training with him'..... but really she's just let the dog decide from himself what he's going to do. I totally agree 110% that training never stops. Every day you need to work with your dog, even for 5 mins a day. Otherwise you'll be tearing out your hair when you have to fix bad behavior. Good manners will change your relationship.

If you can take your dog to work i would 100% recommend this. We have about 4 dogs in on an average day, sometimes more. Our colleague brought her puppy in, and they've come on amazingly since day 1.

Hey Will - Im a spectater from Denmark, whoem fallen totally in love with your videos. I love the way you teach us, how to be the perfect canine leader (or as good as we want to be) I have a question for you! My girlfriend and I are getting a Chodsky Pes puppy from Czech Republic in 7 ish weeks, and we're planning to use your tips and tricks to train her (and ourselves, haha). Now to the question - Do you plan to make a "how to train a puppy" videoplaylist, or something like that? Ofcourse we are going to invest in your Perfect Puppy Course, but I think it will benefit alot of people. Love from Denmark! J & L

Just watched your top 10 German breeds - no where to comment there so found this video. I’m intrigued that the Boxer doesn’t seem to feature on here or many of your other top 10 videos. Just wondered if there was a reason for this? Seems to be a breed that balances guarding and family life well?

Isn't doggy daycare almost like a dog park where you can't be present? I would expect most dogs there to be well mannered but I often hear stories of fights, or there's hyper dogs, lack of control, couldn't a tiny puppy get trampled or picked on? I feel like things could happen there and that scares me

Does it matter if the size difference is massive with the role model dog and puppy? My uncle's dog is a big black Labrador who is very well behaved and our puppy is a tiny 8 week old Shih Tzu cross (1.6kg)
@Highwizardd

it does matter, but in ur case it sounds fine. large puppies can hurt or even kill smaller dogs just by playing.

Can my dog's bio dad be his role model? I'm afraid this may cause litter mate syndrome. Another question, can he socialised with his bio brother as well (he lives in the same place as the dad)
@jessicagislason4855
@jessicagislason4855 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, littermate syndrome is from dogs spending too much time together essentially, they can be socialized and live together but they need to be given their own space, it's like comparing a pair of toddlers sharing the same room to a pair of 20 year old siblings, it's just not healthy for constant interaction and lack of independence. Dad will likely be a great role model while a brother would be good for a afternoon romp to tire them out physically and practice communication. As long as you're dog is learning to be independent and well behaved you probably won't have issues, basic obedience and crate training goes a long way

Yeah I think my dog got a bad role model from our neighbors dog. At the time there was only a chain link fence separating and our puppy learned alot of nonsense barking and extreme barking at mailman. That neighbor actually moved but we have been left with now a almost 2 year old dog that goes crazy at anyone walking by or approaching the front door. She is totally fine at dog parks. But acts so bad at our house. We have tried many things but can't seem to get her to not go out of her mind.

Can you help me? Myself and a couple other people I know each just got a four-week-old puppy. I know, it's bad, but the mom was starting to attack them and the food they were getting weaned to was crap - lady meant well, but you know. Anyway, obviously they need as much time together as we can give them, and I do have another dog that can be kind of a role model...but what else can we do to mitigate the damage from taking them so young? Any tips on comforting the whining vs waiting it out with puppies so young (assuming we've checked to see if they needed the bathroom)?
@jessicagislason4855
@jessicagislason4855 Жыл бұрын
How come mom was attacking them? That's highly abnormal, mother dogs get grumpy with puppies but they don't "attack" unless air snapping and snarling counts which is again, normal in some cases. If she really did start attacking them your puppy may have inherited a neurological issue which is going to be an issue. At that young your going to have issues either way but focus on all around socializing, not just dogs. Sights, smells, different types of ground etc. And keep up regular dog contact with other puppies and good dogs to ward off lack of familial lessons and reassurance.
@lisafoster4468

@@jessicagislason4855 I wish I knew why...but at this point I'm actually thinking she was probably just reprimanding them and it got misread. Lady was clueless...I found out a few days ago that she was even feeding them spaghetti, sauce and all. I'm amazed they're still alive.

So, They say between 8 and 12 weeks is the time to socialize the puppy. So, Don’t wait and try to do it once a week. Go to public spaces every day between 8 and 12 weeks age.

How much exercise is the dog getting. He could have too much energy and needs to get out to run
@jennyvalcore6417

I'm not sure there are really role model dogs at doggie daycare. A lot of owners don't put in time to train their dogs.. and they have anxious animals that basically get their exercise and mental stimulation at these daycare places.. and then the dogs sleep and are just well-mannered after work for people that take their dogs to daycare for the whole day. THere are a lot of bad-mannered dogs at dog daycares. it's a tough call.

It is difficult to socialize your young dog proper when you’re not suppose to meet other people because of the pandemic situation. Doggy daycare wouldn’t be possible where I live as the government doesn’t do anything to stop Covid-19.
