@@undisclosedlocations go learn from Nathan Cool of Definitive hdr photography. Sorry for the guy here trying his best but it is sooo full of errors it’s a pain to watch. Luminosity mode is for the ambient as it removes the Color and uses the light values only. Flashes are mostly left on normal (or screen/lighten in some specific instances) White balance was done prior he said.. nope, he lowered the yellow and orange in Lr but only on the ambiant shot.. witch is irrelevant since you are supposed to remove the Color from the ambiant shot with the luminosity mode. The back left and right shots where not used but one was still checked as visible and could have affected a part of the image.. not much in this case but still. And after all that he removes the blue Color cast he introduced himself in photoshop by misusing the techniques/layers. Not to mention the first mask he did the inverse and later realized it after an eternity of layer on layer off to figure out the obvious. Anyways, not to bash the guy but some content should be removed when you realise that it’s fulllll of errors and oh so misleading. Go check the others guys, you’ll understand that a 50/50 flambiant with only two pictures would have done better in 30 seconds (or 2 with a saved action).

I've seen quite a few tutorials about this type of photography, and you are the first one that shows the exact process of the masking of the flashes and the combination with the ambient shot, also the first one that shows the luminosity trick. This really helps, thank you!!

When you bring it back into Lightroom after photoshop you notice it doesn’t auto find your correction profile It will only find your lens profile if you’re editing RAW. Also note that you’re double sharpening because you sharpened as RAW and again as PSD/TIFF

So when shooting and editing composites of different lighting angles like this, would you recommend using a basic behind or above the camera flash shot for the Base Layer?

I think you forgot to change the blend of the ambient shot to luminosity...

Changing it to luminosity doesn't always work on ambient shots sometimes it's better to leave as is.

thank for the video. what was out the window that you did not want to show? Also, why not use ambient exposures to give true shadows instead of multiple flash shots?

Yes, newly constructed housing development across the street. Flash shadows give you better PRINT quality for this designer shoot, if it was for Real Estate then yes you can use ambient for the shadows.
