I think I have been stung so much working outside and foraging for them I'm now immune ish. Just slight tingle from the ones I ate for dinner. Nettle and goosegrass pasta.

Or you could get more sensitized by them. I went nighthiking a few years ago, paths went along the fields of ouchies. Got stung so much my whole body tingled, no longer painfull, just an itch, but not like a mosquito bite. Got a fever from the toxins, as the dose added up. Got stung up to the shoulders, as I had to plough through 1,6km of nettles to get to the nearest path. Saved me from a 6 hour hike around though. Now almost every sting makes me go through that itch again, which royally sucks, as I tend to raise butterflies. When the city council around here mows the nettles back, this way the Aglais Io and Vanessa Atalanta at least get to fly out... Anyhoo, whatever stings you and doesnt kill you can make you stronger. It can also sensitise you up to the point of anafylactic shock. Keep in mind the possible outcomes.

I remember when I was a young kid, my dad had heard some stupid rhyme about how if you grab a nettle really fast and forcefully, it won't sting you. I watched as he snatched at a handful of leaves lightning-quick, then proceeded to shout and swear at the top of his lungs after stinging the living fk out of his hand😂😂.

@@OngoGablogian185 Nettle soup is good for hayfever. You have to pick just the tips of the plant otherwise it tastes very strong.

I find it funny when Americans come to the uk and are completely unaware of nettles 😂 I know it’s evil but their reaction is so funny

That reminds of when we had tons of American tourists come over and one of them accidentally brushed Thier arm on one and they started crying and they thought they got stung by a wasp so they started looking for one only to get stung again! Then they called over their friends and they all got stung!

@@koolkestrel9512 lol a video just came up in my recommended about nettles being an invasive species in the us, and the comments are from Americans saying things like “it hurts when i touch it” 😂😂 it’s hilarious, I once watched a video of an American metal detecting in my town and he literally walked through a field of 5-7 ft tall nettles and at the end of the video the guy watch like “ouch ouch ouch something got me real bad”

The back of your hand brushed the one next to the one you picked & although I have taught your method I have also found it’s just easier to cover up because even instructors that showed me admit they regularly get stung showing students this.

An plant with a ton of nutrients and antioxidants. It grows everywhere in UK but few people use them. Imo we need to relearn the wild foods that grow naturally in our areas and start making use of them. Safety first. Do ur homework on the matter.

@@kkibela Thanks, few people consider that for just about every ailment there is, there is a plant, cor a combination of plants that will heal/cure the issue. Sadly, we live in a time where we run to a doctor on or for OTC meds at the first sign of something. That doctor will hand out a prescription with grin on his face. The pharmaceutical company's needs us to be ignorant of nature's truths. Enjoy ur day. Edinburgh, Scotland.

I met a guy who was somehow completely immune to nettle stings. He thought everyone else was just being dramatic or it was in their head. I tried grabbing a whole bunch (with gloves) and rubbing them all along his arm and he had absolutely no reaction. No rash, no itchyness, no sting. Lucky b4stard

Might be he built up resistance over the years. I remember nettles stung like a b when I was a kid but after many years of tackling them in the garden I now find them only very mildly annoying. The pain is mild and goes in a few minutes and I don't get a rash. I still use gloves though because I'm not a masochist :P
