I love your skill of breaking a project down to simple tasks. It's interesting to see how others go about booking and staying organized, I've been using an Excel spreadsheet I created many years ago that still helps today. Touring Plans has been the best with their Crowd Calendar, fireworks time and mentioning of any special events taking place. It's a huge help in deciding which park to go to on which day for Fast Pass planning!

Yes! Planning is a great way to kick start the magic! My version of the planning binder is a google doc --- everyone in my party can access and update, so its a great way to make everyone feel involved in the planning!

Thanks Jen! Makes me feel a little less crazy ( or we are both equally crazy) that I’m constantly planning and adjusting for our trip in August. Resort, dining, FP! That’s the true order and I agree it’s just as much fun planning as it is actually experiencing. We also had an urgent care trip and I remember saying “ this was not in the itinerary!” It all turned out just fine. Rain happens, storms happen, exhaustion and not feeling well happens. It all works out somehow though and it’s always even more enjoyable than planned. ❤️

Great tips! Love your family’s dining choices - many of them are the same for our family too! I keep everything on a single spreadsheet and save it to my phone but I like your binder!

It's always nice to see how other people plan their Disney World trips. I am currently lining up everything for our January 2020 trip, where we are taking our Daughter in law for her first Disney vacation. The only part of this that is different is that I am having to plan all those one and done things, that we'd stopped doing years ago. I have a bad history with Garden Grill I like to have one sit down breakfast on every trip, usually the day we go to Epcot. For the last 3 years I have made those reservations at Garden Grill, and I have yet to actually eat there. Maybe this year will be our year to make it to that reservation!

I love a binder! We just had Mickey & Minnie call and inform the family we are going on our first Disney Cruise in October AND I just booked our Spring Break trip to WDW. My mind is constantly busy thinking Disney plans!

I picked which parks on which days based on the extra magic hours in each park at end of October when we went. The evening extra magic hours were most important to us because after the fireworks the crowd clears out and then we ran around for 2 more hours and rode the rides virtually with no wait times. We did the majority of breakfasts at resorts like Kona Cafe and some days no breakfast just a grab and go at Starbucks inside the parks. We were on the dining plan so it worked out great. Great video and lots of good advice!

So excited to see I am not the only binder nerd! My mom and I are going to Disneyworld for the first time in December! We are a Disneyland family and never had the desire to see Disneyworld. Then we started watching Disney vlogs because we are home sick (we moved to the midwest). Man we never knew what we were missing out on. So we planned a trip! We are going to stay at the Swan & Dolphin - that was the first of your videos I watched that made me subscribe. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. I enjoy your channel. I would love to see progress planning videos...to see what reservations and fast passes you were. Able to snag. My family of 5 adults went in March with no Slinky Dog FP....but while walking around Hollywood Studios we were able to get one for all 5 of us.

We just back on Sunday .. was our best family trip ever.. I love planning too and it went so smooth.. even my kids and husband couldn't believe how smooth it went! We always do skipper and Syfy for lunch.. my least favorite for the trip was The Wave.. I did like the Wave lounge though.. loved the boat house and love Ranglin road. Loved Spice Road. Via Napoli was just ok.. love Rose and crown.. just a lot of good experiences! But I was ready for my healthy cooking when we got home!

Great video! And great timing - It's nap time so I just grabbed a beer and was starting to paint my toenails and this popped up! It's so important to plan. Great video. I recommend anyone setting an alarm to remind of ADRs and fast passes. And set it for the correct time. I set mine for the wrong time and I was already on my way to work and forgot my to print my spreadsheet of plans. So I was able to do it on the fly. Only to realize when I got home I had the wrong parks since I'm planning our 3 trips at once (I know, I know such problems I have!). By some amazing occurence I fixed it when I got home that night getting all the ADRs I wanted.

Yes!!! Planning really is 'half the fun!' Loving that binder, Jen! I maintain a Disney planning journal and it's so fun to revisit. Great idea to have a dining planning meeting to brainstorm as a family (and Skipper Canteen is a huge fav for our family. It's been such a great addition to MK.)

100% agree with Sci-Fi. Family favorite and now has a nostalgic factor for me. I took my boyfriend there when we went three years ago and he has said that next we go to Disney we have to go back. Food is the first thing we discussed as a family after we decided we were going back to Disney World. Still remains my priority, probably more than where I stay. My family did the same thing of sitting around and everyone having a say on where to eat, but also what rides in each park was a "gotta."

I love to plan it too. This time I did call an agent because its for 13-15 people. 2 weeks ago the agent and I got up early to book our reservations - we divided and conquered. Thank God we did because it was tricky. But we got nearly everything we wanted. We did have to split the group a few times. Glad that's done.

We're going down for our 1st trip in October for our 20th anniversary. I started planning September of last year. Got all the meals we picked out booked and have a list of the rides we want fast passes for. Also have the tickets forMickeys Not So Scary.

Jen, I plan the same way except instead of a binder I use Day by day calendar so I can see everything at a glance. I also go old school write down all my reservations and fast passes on an index card and refer to that for times and places, I find it to be more reliable and faster.

It’s true about having something in hand in the parks! Seems like whenever you need a reservation number or detail it’s in a fast moving high stress situation and it’s so much easier to have cards or something like it!😀

My next WDW trip is a solo trip for 2 weeks in October 2019. I just use a pen and notepad for my initial planning and a small notebook for my finalized itinerary and fastpasses. I'm staying offsite and the fastpasses are getting a lot harder to get for the E ticket rides so I'll be up at 7am 30 days before my trip !

I do mostly the same while planning (I'm the planner) but I switch park (day) planning and meal planning. Like this next trip, we are going to only two parks so I have to base our restaurant choices on the park we are going to that day. It was also our first time booking DVC vaca so that's kind of a new process (vs booking a magic your way package like we usually do). Polynesian here we come... in 11ish months lol. I feel like planning is most of the fun. Or maybe seeing your plans working out into a beautiful family vacation that makes the planning so satisfying. I second some other commenters on getting a follow up...because I'm nosy too haha.

My plan is to go to Dapper Day this coming Nov. I booked a 1 night stay on property and will visit Contemporary for a dining reservation and visit a couple other resorts. Afterwards, I go on a 4 day cruise.

In August I'm going to hear an artist give a two day talk in Orlando, so I will have an afternoon/evening to visit one of the parks on my arrival day. Planning on going to Epcot since it's my favorite park, plus it might be nice to see Illuminations before it closes!

My only hiccup in planning is usually when i have a dining reservation planned and the fast passes don’t match up to them. For example, a dining reservation made 6 months ahead , wont work with a 60 day advance fast pass! Fast pass usually wins and i do touring plans reservation finder to help with dining 😀

Hello Jen I'm excited for my first solo trip Jan 26 to Feb 1st. I really enjoy watching Disney planning and packing videos. Thank you for always keeping us in the magic. My question is are parks that don't have early magic on a specific day usually less crowded at rope drop than the park that has the EMH?

I want to plan another trip! I'm just worried about Star Wars crowds - I have anxiety issues with crowds already and can only just about cope with last year, and the thought of things being much worse? Nope! So I'm waiting to see how it goes.... but that means waiting past the time I'd need to be booking to go early next year.

Planning is like dreaming..there’s always time to dream! We have to get to Skipper Canteen-Jungle Cruise is my favorite ride and I still pout that The Adventurer’s Club is closed. Our dinner choices lean toward the resorts and Disney Springs these days...did someone say Homecomin’? Thanks for a fun Saturday afternoon break.

Love how organized you are I try to be the family planner and they let me! Lol Headed to wdw july1-5 at okw Very excited to stay there! I know.... hot and crowded but only time frame that worked for college kids summer work schedules ! Building in resort hopping days and pool time AK 2nd & MK 3rd (EMH) Any suggestions ... to do or not to do in heat and crowds? Thanks for all your tips!

I just did a video on that a couple weeks ago!! Yes lots of tips but the most I operant ones are slow down and hydrate. We go in the summer often and you’re going to have a great trip!!

What a great video! Planning is more than half the fun in my book. Are used touring plans continually and also check out the WDW prep school website. I keep a vacation planner as well and it has saved us many times when MDE is down. Thoroughly enjoyed your video thanks again.

Hi Jen. First of All i love your channel. Have been a follower from the beginning. My family loves going to Disney World. Our next trip is not until Jan 2022. (Only 942 days) Hee hee. Sounds like a long way off. Not really since I started our countdown at 1832 days. I too am a planner. I do just what you do with the binder. It’s going to be a bit trickier this time, because we are going with a large group. Everyone will be staying in different places. So we decided just going to meet up for dinners. Keep your fingers crossed that I can get ADR for us. Any hints? Again love your channel.

Large groups are tough! I would try to get separate reservations for the same time. In my experience more than 5 at a table can’t really talk anyway so getting several tables can be an easier to get situation and then you could mix up who sits where each night??😀

Afternoon Jen... question on your Crystal Palace dining time comment, i.e. 10:30a... we have seen vloggers comment that time can lend to breakfast food being "stale" and lunch food being "sparse". Thoughts... and can a bump in time to 10a mitigate that issue? We are planning a group trip for Feb. 2020, and your video had great info. (always). Thank you!

GingerNinja4769 Never forget that if something goes wrong on your trip, you can say something! If the food is stale, your room view isn’t what you dreamed of, or your must-have fastpass didn’t work out, tell a cast member (nicely and with no expectations!) because they truly want you to have the best trip with your family and will do anything they can to make it happen. It’s great when it works out, but some of the most magical moments happen when you ask for help.

Remember that if you have at least 1 little girl, you could take her to meet some of the Disney Princesses and preferably she would wear some Princess Dresses which would preferably include at least 1 of the following 3. 1: Elsa Dress 2: Rapunzel Dress 3: Princess Aurora Dress

Also i had a question: do you buy the dvc specific travel insurance that's offered per use year? If so you pay for it at the time you pay annual dues or when you plan/book your vacation?

I’m finally going on a Disney Cruise. We leave July 7th on the Disney Dream. 5 days and two stops at Castaway Cay, 1 stop at Nassau, and a day at sea. I’m so excited. Any tips for a first time Disney Cruiser? ❤️😘

Oh my gosh, Major, just give yourself over to the experience and you’ll be fine! Oh and don’t try to do it all. It’s not possible! And get extra towels when you get on Castaway Cay because they’re impossible to find later.😍😍😍

Since it’s all you care to eat, just tell them you want the vegetarian platter and they will set you up! The offering shave been slightly different each time but I’ve never walked away hungry!!

Well I've gone a bit nuts and am slowly dragging my husband along with me haha I have convinced him not only of our family trip this December (staying at the fort) but also of a solo trip for me in january 2020 (at coronado, thanks Jen!) and a family trip in October 2020 staying at BEACH CLUB :D :D :D If you are a nerd, idk what I am with my extensive planning notebook and 100 Google Docs lol
