Sorry you had to contend with the rain, but I bet you're feeling pretty happy having them all planted out. I think you may have a wider variety of anemones available to you in the UK, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing the fluffy white double with the olive green center in bloom (hint, hint, you'll need to take us on a tour)!

Good luck. I planted 75 last fall and 0 came up in spring. I was really bummed. Planted some the year before in spring and loved them. Still gonna try again

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. It could be that they were found by field mice or squirrels. Or maybe the ground was too waterlogged and they rotted - both of these scenarios have happened to me in the past. 😊

Thanks for your video again Annette, hope you have better luck with your Farmer Gracy anemoon corms then I have had with their ranonkelus corms. From 60 corms I only have had 1 flower. And a lot of their dahlia tubers are mis labeled and notwhat I had ordered. Kind regards Joke from The Netherlands.

Hi Joke - I'm so sorry to hear that you've had problems with Farmer Gracy - I do hope you contacted them to let them know the issues so that they could replace them? I've found them to be reliable and also that they replaced/refunded any mistakes that were made. 😊

Hi Annette. I love the funny knobbly Anemone corms. I had one variety in a pot but I don't think it came up, or perhaps it's gotten hidden somewhere among other pots. I hope all yours come up for you so you can show us all later. Do you like bold oranges and yellows? I grew some Calendulas this year and they are really putting on a lovely show. Thanks for the video. XX

Hi Jimmy, yes, my calendulas self-seeded last year (or just made it through the winter) so I have a lovely drift of them in the grass border and they shine through and so I'm really enjoying them. I'm hoping to film a tour of that border in the next week or so.

Anemones can be very aggressive especially Honorine Jobert. I have the pink ones and they seem to be slower to take off and stay more compact. I love them and so I put up with the fact that they need reining in every year. I end up passing the pieces of them that I dig up along to friends and neighbours.
@cottoverdi
@cottoverdi 23 күн бұрын
Hi Kate, I think you're talking about the Japanese anemones - which can indeed be quite aggressive but these are the spring-flowering anemones (mostly anemone coronaria) that I'm trying to grow for autumn blooms. 🌸

Great video Annette. Loved the way you describe the anemones and also where and why you are planting them in various locations in your garden. I have tried to grow anemones several times but haven't been very successful with them. I actually managed to grow 8 this year. I have left them in the ground after they finished flowering, so hopefully they will come back next year. If they do then I may buy some more, but I won't if there is no sign of them. I was debating whether to lift my Ranunculus or leave them in the ground this year. They are in a raised bed with some of my peonies. What would you do? Happy gardening 🙂 x
@cottoverdi
@cottoverdi 24 күн бұрын
Thanks Be. This year I took a 'brave' decision to leave all my ranunculus in the ground. I thought I'd give it a go and see how many come back and whether they are actually even more floriforous...I guess I'll find out in the spring. I've never left them in before but my stash has become too laborious to manage (especially since I HAVE to lift the dahlias). There's only so much digging I can do! I've no idea whether I will see any flowers next year and they are spread all over the garden so the soil is different in each location. 😬🌸 😁
@bewoodford2807
@bewoodford2807 24 күн бұрын
@@cottoverdi Yes, very brave but I understand why you have done this. It all becomes very overwhelming in Spring what with stored dahlias,Tulips, salvias and seed sowing on top. I think I will leave the ones in my raised beds and just store the others. That will cut down the amount of work. Good luck and I hope they come back with a vengeance. Happy gardening 🙂

Gosh, I don't know. Very possibly but this is the first time I'm trying it. I know that Amelia from AmeliasFlowerFarm has planted anemones for autumn flowering before so that's why I decided to give it a go. 😊

@@cottoverdi this is what Gardeners World says about planting after Spring Planting time of ranunculus bulbs depends on whether they are planted under cover or outside. Under cover, in a frost-free, cool place such as a greenhouse, porch, or polytunnel, plant in pots from early autumn to early winter. For growing outdoors, plant from late spring to early summer. (Bear in mind that those planted from late spring will flower the following year.)

Hi Annette. Can you please tell me what kind of labels you use, and what you use to write with ? I have endless trouble with labels fading.

Hi Stan, I use white plastic labels and I use this marker - it's UV resistant so lasts really well in the garden (unlike sharpies) amzn.to/3W35Gv1

I tried for the first time this year to grow anemones in pots in my balcony. I planted in spring 3 pots with 3 different Mistral anemones and two pots with the Sylphide ones. All pots filled with the leaves of the sprouted anemones but I got no blooms!! Nothing from the Sylphides and only one bloom from one of the Mistrals. They keep producing leaves but no blooms. Do you have any ideas what I might have done wrong? Before I knew this would happen and because I only discovered FG recently, I already bought and preordered lots more of the Mistral anemones from them. My previous anemones were not from them. I would really like to be more successful with these new corms, so I'd appreciate your input greatly!!!
@cottoverdi
@cottoverdi 23 күн бұрын
Hi, I really don't know why you'd only get leaves and no flowers. Have you tried to feed them with a balanced liquid feed? They compost may be lacking in nutrients if they are in pots. Also, make sure that they have consistent watering because stressed plants won't flower well. The only other reason `I can think is that the temperatures aren't right to promote flowering. Our anemones flower well here when the temperatures are below 20°C so if it's hotter than that, the plants will shut down. I hope you have better luck this year. 😊🌸

Hi, interesting you should ask - I keep checking and haven't seen any sign of them yet. I'm a little worried that Richard 'weeded' them out - he can be a little aggressive when he doesn't recognise the plant ! 🤣
