Great info and I appreciate the cut in vids showing exactly how you are doing it, equipment to spread, what type of lime, ect. Well done!

I always tell people that doing a soil sample is like checking the barbecue sauce you're making for your meat. You have to know what else you need in your recipe. Awesome informational video!

Thanks for this information! This is my first year putting in food plots and we are starting in the Spring with Fusion and Alfa Rack. This video gives us a better picture of what we need to do and a plan.

Just wanted to say thank you for this. I'm doing my first spring plot this year, and also making a series for noobies like me. This really helps. It would be nice to talk more about cultipackers or drags too. The WTI directions talk about this and interested in your thoughts here.

Have you ever seen a no-till drill used to plant seed? I watch a lot of videos on farming for wildlife habitat improvement and I see guys using these no-till drills that are able to plant seeds without disturbing the soil. They plant right through the cover crop and then manually terminate the cover crop by crimping it, which creates a mulch layer as well as puts nutrients back into the soil without disturbing it. Not sure if that could apply to your farming needs.

It will not apply for me. I would never get that equipment to 95% of my plots.

One of the best videos I’ve seen. Thanks 😎👍🏼 One question though. How do you go about putting in the fall plots. Do you just broadcast into it and crimp existing perennials? Or do you disc them up and terminate them? I’m confused, because you said, not to terminate them in video. And I read in comments you said “it would be hard to broadcast them in and get enough sunlight. So what do you do? Thanks 🙏🏼

Great video. You made mention about not planting in spring to kill off in the fall for those turnips and such. Do you just let those fall plots sit over the summer months?

When planting perennial clovers like this during the spring. How do you add in your annuals during the fall? Will the clover have to be terminated? Or can the brassica be broadcasted over the clover during the fall and still be able to have enough sunlight to grow?
@ALL-In-Outdoors3 жыл бұрын
Would be tough to establish brassicas that way. The seed needs seed soil contact in order to establish.

Found you from i believe your nephew who i deal with at work. Very glad i found your videos and it is especially helpful with you being local to me. Found plenty of information from people who live in the midwest and their tatics are not the same here. Tried no plow in this past spring and it took but after a month the weeds and ferns took over. I sprayed glosplate twice and these darn ferns just wont die. Any recommendations? I plan on starting fresh and getting a tiller for my quad to plant fusion in the spring time. Also i noticed you said lime takes months to get into the soil, im in Leeper Pa and theres been snow down but has melted. Can i go toss some lime down now or would it get washed out? My ph was 4.7 last year from the lab test and i didnt add lime due to health issues so im sure it still needs some.

I know whitetail institute recommends fertilizing the same day as you plant. Have you had any less success fertilizing when you lime, versus fertilizing when you plant? Just curious, the end of your video shows fertilize/lime in the same step. Great video/information for us new plotters!
@ALL-In-Outdoors4 жыл бұрын
You should lime, if possible, 3 months before you plant. You definitely do not want to fertilize 3 months in advance of planting.

Great vid, thanks for posting. It's glyphosate...not gly-o-phosate btw

Yeah, I've been saying it that way for years. Hard habit to break. Lol. Thanks for watching!

Spray herbicide, wait 10 or 15 days, disk, wait, spray again, disk, wait 10 or 15 more days, now you're well beyond the recommended planting dates.....

It is tough in the spring. As I mentioned in the video I would attempt to get at least one round of spraying in. If you live somewhere in the country that you can get 2 rounds in, that is better.
