In this video I give my tips to make a good break (also called "stop chorus"). A stop chorus is a stop of a few bars that jazzmen often do to start a solo. And the key element of a good stop chorus is... rhythm !

Thanks! I really liked your advice about using your shoulder or head to follow the rhythm instead of just tapping your foot. I tried it right away and I agree that it helps a lot.
