How to play this classic Johnny Cash tune in the style of Luther Perkins, his original guitar picker. Demonstration of the tune then I cover the solos, intro riff and bass strum picking patterns. EASY!
If you want to play along with the record, you'll need a capo at the first fret or tune up half a step.

I learned the first part of this solo on my brother's guitar back in 1972 when I was 12 years old. Here it is 51 years later and I finally learned the rest! Never too late to learn as long as you're still breathing. Thanks for posting this.

I really enjoy and learn much from your lessons. Is that a Chet Atkins Tennesse Rose? Nice Guitar. I ask because I have a Tennesse Rose Chet Atkins. First time i played it I could not believe how different the fretboard felt compared to other guitars I own.

Its called Folsom Prison "Blues". Forget that hillbilly country beat, slow it way down and play it as a blues tune. Put some real lead guitar to it. Try it - you'll like it. I saw a blues band do it that way and it was amazing.

You young man, are not playing the B7 chord right! You don't strike the E string in the B7 mode! You alternate BASS string A to D while you play the B7 chord . If your going to teach it, teach it right mate!
@rockabillyrevolution
@rockabillyrevolution 4 ай бұрын
if you play the second fret on the E string I think you will find you are playing an F# - try it you will discover it works.
