BRAVO! Your presentation was very well done! First, your passion for music is so remarkable - shows in your eyes, gestures, intonation, smile etc. Your pacing is very good. You have obviously put in a lot of effort - well researched, great visuals. There is worthwhile content for learners at various levels. Your playing is exquisite! My only recommendation is that sound could be a bit better - microphone, placement. Giving lessons on piano technique seems to be your passion and you are very competent in this!

I enjoy going back and listening to people play or explain music I play. I often find small nuances or things they do different from me. I tend ro use the sustain pedal while holding the soft pedal in the first 4 bars. Using it in its appropriate place, of course. My 16th grace note on bar 5, after the trill on F sharp going to G I play it not too fast, and so the 4 16th note trills on the F sharp bar 13 going to G sharp. On bar 17, all notes are connected with a slur. I Don't slur that measure. I don't think it sounds natural singing, but I do repeat the sustain as in measure 16.there are other things, but those slurs and punctuation are things I play different, as they sound more naturally lyrical to me. Thanks for the tutorial.

Suzanne, NO OFFENCE, but I 'kind a feel' that you're still ranked as a 'beginner'(the distance from beginner to initial-intermediate is 7 years of hard practice!). If this is the case, I'd strongly suggest that you wait another 3 years before attacking this nocturne. WHY? a. because, even if you'd manage to somehow 'struggle your way' to the end' you'd still end up LACKING CERTAIN VITAL KNOWLEDGE (motorically and grammatically) which only arrives with 'time and age'. Now I have to be honest here: AI attacked this piece way too early myself and end up being UNABLE to play certain bars accurately. TODAY I'm asking myself this question: WHAT EXACTLY WAS THE PROBLEM WAY-BACK-THEN. The answer of course is quite simple: TIME AND EXPERIENCE!!

The playing and shaping with expression, according to the dynamic markings, the f-sharp-minor passages and c-sharp-minor passages that are portions of those exact scales is understood through the playing of at least 4 octaves of those scales and their tonic, subdominant, and dominant chords. Do you agree. I also note measures of melodic minor and chromatic keys. You agree that music theory and scale playing are important to to the playing of each piece? Thank you for focusing on what inspired Chopin.

Wonderful context to this piece. Thank you for these insights! They will certainly improve my playing. I got a really basic question though, about the fingering. I noticed you use 5,2,1,2 (x2) for the left hand (in bar 5). I've seen several people use 5,3,1,2 (x2) but also 5,3,1,2 for the first half and 5,2,1,2. Is it purely a matter of preference? There are pros and cons to each choice, I suppose, but could you perhaps comment on your choice here a bit? :) Cheers, Bart.
@PianoAngelicus
@PianoAngelicus 9 ай бұрын
Hi thank you for your lovely comment. Yes fingering is always an individual thing - it’s job is to get us around the notes in as comfortable and relaxed a way as possible whilst being the right choice to express the demands of music. I have a very small hand so on these quavers I use 5 2 1 2 to maximise relaxation and use rotation and the wrist. Every hand is different so don’t be afraid to try different fingerings to see which suits you, feels best, and helps you to produce the sound you’re looking for. Hope that was helpful and happy playing ❤
@bart_r6703
@bart_r6703 9 ай бұрын
@@PianoAngelicus Thank you so much for your extensive reply. Good to know there isn't one type of fingering that's objectively better. I'll just try out some and figure out which approach suits my hands (or playing style) best. Thanks!

No doubt you have the highest credentials,but for an intermediate learner like me(4 years of piano),this tutorial is just too....rich,too....messy...and certainly beyond my level,as I'm struggling measure by measure to play it grossly(the first part)An advanced student would certainly appreciate your tutorial more focused on embellishment,dynamics,nuances,ornaments etc(the "seasoning") If I had an humble suggestion,why don't tou insert a virtual keyboard on top,synthesia type...It would make it a little more approachable for many more students... Have a pleasant sunday, Denys,from Paris(France,not Texas!!!)

Salut Marie, tu le peux faire toi même. Tu clique sur le petit carré CC en haut à droite et tu peux voit les sous-titres. CC veut dire Sous-titres. J'espère que cela t'aides. Mon français n'est pas très bon.
