Learn how to play quads and learn how to blast on the ride and snare. Pretend that you're just doing a drum roll but you're right hand is hitting the ride. To make it more interesting you can accent on the ride bell on 2 and 4 till you get better and then use your imagination.

Could you help me? I play double bass one year and during this year I was one time in great condition, I could play 160-170 bpm for not a long time, but I could. Now I do not know what happened, but last two months I can't play 130bpm. I'm very depressed.. I was trying to play swivel technique, but im tempo around 130-140 bpm I stucked and I can't play faster. Than I one month played an ankle motion but same things happened. At ankle motion I had problem with left leg, when I played, the left never be so good like right leg. Now i have no idea what to do, so I really want some advice, because I'm totally broken.

What do you think about the axis pedals? There's a video you youtube where the dude is saying they are pieces of junk that tear themselves up. He said eating themselves. I seen Samus had them so i thought they must be good but it seems a lot of guys said the same things about them breaking easy. I was looking at the Pearl demondrives since Gene Hoglan uses them.
@CameronFleury
@CameronFleury 3 жыл бұрын
The axis pedals have been great! My right heel block is starting to loosen up, but they now make a revamped version to replace their existing heel block. Everything can break easy if you don't take care of your gear.

Hey Cameron, I am having trouble readjusting my kit around my double pedal. I’m having trouble finding a position where I can comfortably move my feet between the bass pedal and the hi hat. And tips?
@CameronFleury
@CameronFleury 3 жыл бұрын
If you don't have a hi hat stand with legs that are able to swivel, it can be difficult. Typically I'll place one of the legs over the foot board. It doesn't give you much room, but it's cheaper than buying a new stand.

heel up or heel down? cuz my shins arent necesarily week i just have a hard time. its easier to play fast heel up but then jts harder to multitask and play the snate
@CameronFleury
@CameronFleury 5 жыл бұрын
Most of the time i'm playing heel up. It might be easier to play faster because you're not used to that motion at slower tempos. Try just playing your kicks and then slowly add the snare and other elements of the drum set. I know it's frustrating, but try and isolate where you're running into problems and work on that.

@@CameronFleury Okay! is it a good idea to practice heel down on slower parts of a song and then heel up om faster parts? for example on psychosocial, the intro might use heel up becuase its faster wheras the verse uses heel down because its slower. or nightmare by a7x, how the verse uses heel down while the double bass chorus uses heel up. if you understand what im saying, then is that the right way to approach songs or should i just stick with one or the other heel method?
@CameronFleury
@CameronFleury 5 жыл бұрын
They're both great techniques, and you should do what feels most comfortable for you. If it helps you drum longer and doesn't cause you any pain, then go for it. Learn the premise of the techniques then apply them to the drums based on what you understand and are physically capable of playing. Hope this helps!

@CameronFleury

If you're feeling pain in your hips, you need to reevaluate your technique and your posture. There should not be any pain. If you can put a mirror beside you while you're playing, I'd highly suggest doing so. Sounds like maybe you're using quite a bit of force from your legs?

Axis pedals are horrible for me. So fragile and slippery u have no control with them when going into grove beats that require hard hitting. So frustrating! I would love to be able to do 16th note and faster constant double bass cause that’s the music I love but still can’t after 20 years of playing. I crush 8th note double bass and patterns. Hitting soft and relying on triggering makes me lose control. Bass pedals can’t go high enough in tension for my liking. It’s crazy. I guess I’m just not meant for fast constant double bass. It gets in your head and drives u nuts!!!
