The intro to this video is to wholesome, i know its the 'time of the year' happy holidays and what not, but it warms my frozen heart to see this.

I tend to only speak up if I have a criticism, so before I dig into this let me say; I love your channel. I think you do a great job with your builds, and your intentionally cringey jokes and references make me laugh. I only watch so much because I genuinely love it. I did enjoy the creativity in this build, but I feel like it was focused on grabbing specific "iconic" abilities rather than really fleshing out the character in 5e's system. I suppose most builds on this channel are like that but ... I feel like it was the wrong way to go with Garrus, as evidenced by how many times you mentioned options he got that didnt really feel like Garrus. Remember who Garrus is in Mass Effect. He's a lawman who's frustrated by bureaucracy. He has no issues getting his claws dirty if the bad guys get caught, but he's also good at unearthing information about who the bad guys are. He definitely needed some Rogue Investigator in here. I really liked the Artificer choices, but they were meant to emulated Garrus' tech abilities and enjoyment of tinkering with equipment. I feel like that was more an extension of how he was brought up than something so core to his character that that his detective side shouldve been cut in favor of it. But hey. Just my take. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to your next one. And good on your girlfriend for getting you into the hobby. The community is better for her actions.

Happy Birthday! While suboptimal to use artificer, I can't see how you can get gadgets in DnD without it. It's literally the gadget class. I could see going up to artillerist 6 for the gun wand as a sidearm (if they still get that at 6? Idk). Sharpshooter will always be better but close range using a firebolt wand + edritch cannon could matter.

Thanks to your awesome vids, I've been doing some character building of my own for fun in my spare time. Recently got into a Mass Effect mood again, and started working on Liara T'Soni. Pretty straightforward build: Githzerai for +1 INT/+2 WIS, advantage on saving throws against Charmed and Frightened conditions, and innate psionic abilities (Mage Hand, Shield, and Detect Thoughts); take the Archaeologist Background from TOA, since Liara's a xenoarchaeologist specializing in the Protheans; and for class/subclass, the Graviturgist Wizard from EGTW was essentially MADE for making/simulating Biotic Adepts like Liara. Plus, the gravity themed Dunamancy spells (Magnify Gravity, Immovable Object, Pulse Wave, Gravity Sinkhole, Gravity Fissure, and Dark Star) work well for replicating biotic powers, as do standard spells (Feather Fall, Thunderwave, Expeditious Retreat, Jump, Hold Person, Levitate, Shatter, Slow, Telekinesis, Reverse Gravity), the Mind Sliver cantrip from Unearthed Arcana, and spells from XGTE (Catapult and Earth Tremor). Multi-classing is optional, and the suggestion here is to go for Rogue because of spoiler-y reasons (i.e. becoming the new Shadow Broker in ME2's DLC). Speaking of, if you want to grab your own Glyph and have a little helper buddy, make sure to add Find Familiar or Tiny Servant to your spell list at some point and flavor accordingly.

Love this series! You've given me a plethora of ideas for when I finally get a good group together. My suggestion for a character would be someone from the Vermintide games (I'm partial to Kruber myself, though anyone would be great). Some of their classes from the second game present enough nuance that they might just be an interesting enough build.

Nice build, you definitely have a larger grasp on the DND system than I do! A few videos back you did a video on Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist (brotherhood of course), I was wondering if you'd consider doing one of the bad guys like one of the homunculi or someone human like kimblee? I'd imagine the more superhuman homunculi would be harder to nail down but any of the villains would be sweet!

Lizardfolk is the only thing that close to has the right apearance, but the features are kind of mixed. Natural armor, skills, and abilities fit, so its probably the best option, but hungry jaws and cunning artisan feel more Vorcha or possibly krogan. That said, im not sure there is any other race that really works on that front either.

But I do have a question what would you suggest for playing as a mandalorian powertech super commando I watched your boba fett video and while somethings would work for what I have in mind I feel like most of what I would need for my idea I could get elsewhere I already have a couple ideas in mind but you are really good at this so I wanted your opinion (don’t worry about race I’m using the height of mandalorian power as a base and literally anyone could become a mandalorian through being adopted after proving themselves)

Hey Tulok, I'm an Naturalist/Environmental Scientist and I wanted to speak on why its makes sense from biological standpoint to describe this species as an Ave rather than a reptile/lizard. I could also be totally wrong, I've never played Mass Effect. So you know how whales are sea mammals that evolved from land mammals who initially evolved from sea creatures? I'd imagine thats how this species works. They evolved from aves (who evolved from reptiles) but this species dropped most of the external signifiers of birds (beaks and feathers) just like how whales dropped fur, fangs, and fingers. This species likely kept internal evolutions, like higher brain function, being warm blooded, and having complex vocal organs.

Episode 105 of the Fire Emblem stats: Garrus Vakarian. Garrus has a bunch of skills to add to the table: bows, both types of magic (as a sniper), and heavy armor (since he's fairly chunky in the armor department). He's bad at flight because he has Joker for that. His stats reflect his stats in Mass Effect. That means great dexterity, offenses, and speed but bad defenses and HP to compensate.

Trying to think of what other races work for Mass Effect and weirdly Hobgoblins might make the best Quarians: +1 Int is obvious; +2 Con, they are physically very tough despite the immune system issues, and as long as they get past the initial contact with a new pathogen, they actually become completely immune; Saving Face, they are intensly reliant on cooperation to survive, so a free reroll in the presance of allies makes sense; Darkvision, if they dont have it naturally, the helmets definitely do; Martial training, all Quarians recieve a limited amount of combat training (two martial weapons) and no matter what class they are they always have a hardsuit (light armor)

Could you do something like Mowgli or Tarzan? (Feral Child build)

Could you do Kuja from Final Fantasy IX and the dissidia spinoffs? It would be interesting to see how you would build this to be playable...

found a homebrewed form of the black widow sniper riffle (2d12, ignores 1/2 cover and if target isnt behind cover does another 1d4 damage) add a few weapon mods i found on the same sight (mass effect 5e) and it ca get up to 2d12+1d4+8 ignore 1/2 cover, ignore resistance to piercing, give a +1 to crit range... so all that + sharp shooter means a max damage output (crit + all dice landing on same target) of 92 points of damage before adding other skills to up damage like archery fighting style, bracers of archery and favored enemy.. meaning garrus here with that weapon, and all that stuff would have 2d12+26 (+1d4 if target isnt in cover) damage.. even taking just a cupple rouge levels with garrus for sneak attack dice and OMFG would he be a one hit kill master.

This mean either a Wrex or Grunt Build is in the works? I would enjoy a character that can yell "I AM KROGAN!" as I charge in.

Notes from a NG human Idiot; In order to help with the modifier issues, it might be better if you swapped Ranger for Fighter for about 4 levels. You could pick up either Eldritch Knight(which takes some of the modifier issues off the table) or Gunslinger(which could increase your weapon damage & give you better options). Yeah, it COULD make the build a little unwieldy unless you dropped Ranger(but that gets rid of the theme altogether), but it'd be worth it in my mind...... I think the closest 5e PC race to the Turians are the Hobgoblins. Hyper militarised. They definitely shouldn't be Lizardfolk, nothing about them lends to the Lizardfolk abilities. Garrus would be a lawful neutral city watch Hunter Ranger/Scout Rogue with sharpshooter, crossbow expert and a heavy crossbow.

I'm surprised you didn't go with a Gythyanki for race. Either way, it works, I dig it. Now, question: Are Krogan Lizardfolk or Tortles?
