It’s pretty simple how to play little mac. Don’t go off stage

I'm glad to finally see somebody who has more to say about Little Mac than cracking jokes. Mac is dangerous. He's very fast and KOs super early. His drawbacks are large, and he lacks things that the entire rest of the cast takes for granted, so he doesn't play like anyone else on the roster. All of that can leave Mac pretty predictable, since pretty much all he does is run up and punch. It all seems lame... until you meet someone who dash dances flawlessly and hits you with the perfect punch every time you dare land on the ground. He's too quick to really rely on punishing him if he sticks to his safer options... if you try to shield through you're just going to get it broken by that downward front smash. A good Mac will never lose if you try to meet them head on. By no means is this a recommendation of the character. I just know a guy who's a monster with Mac who is very frustrating to play against. The only counters I've found to his take on the character have been to stick to platforms to not let him do anything he wants. And that's still a tedious fight with him taking pot shots at me from below with up B and me taking pot shots from above with aerials and yoshi's down B. It's not exactly a fun match up, and obviously his up B and my down B are both very punishable to a ridiculous degree. But since he's got that early KO potential, my mistakes are more costly than his. All that said, Joker pretty much ruins his playstyle so he decided to switch mains recently. Not the win I wanted, but I'll take it.

How to play Little Mac like a Chad Pro. Only go for a Fair or Up air or Nair if you launched your opponent with a Dtilt or UTilt. Go for a lot of 2 hit jab locks into Dtilt/Backwards Uptilt combo if they miss their Tech Use a Nair right before you use any Aerial (Fair, Bair, Upair) in an air combo and Don't forget to fast fall the 2nd attack in mid-air so you can potentially follow up with another 2 hit air combo. Hold your Smashes until your opponent is about to hit you when he's above you. Make Liberal use of FTilt and DTilt. Keep Shucking & Jiving until they make a mistake Shield Often. Grab them for a Downthrow combo or a Back throw/forward throw No-Tech combo if you can and remember to pummel 3 or 4 times before you throw. Practice your Parrying until you can get it consistently If they like to shield a lot, start using Down-angled FSmash and try to make them miss a tech so you can 2 hit jab lock + Downtilt/Sweetspot-up-Smash + Aerial Side-B/Up-B/Nair & Fair To continue combo them If they're at high Percent, use Up-Angled F-Smash and Up-Smash. Use Up-smash and Up-B as an Anti-Air. Use Neutral-B to armor through being Juggled and as a "get through" get off me move. If someone misses their tech, you can jump in and Neutral B to cover all options. Use Side-B to Recover, first thing you get knocked off stage, you can mix it up with Backwards Double-Jump and Airdodge forward Use Up-Smash, Up-B and KO Punch to hit through Battlefield platforms. Use your Fair and Counter or Full Footstool or SideB to Edgeguard. Use your Counter while recovering if you think your opponent will edgeguard you. Use your Downsmash Backwards if you feel like 2-framing the opponent. What do you guys think, eh?

As a Little Mac main you forgot to mention he has a tipper mechanic on the gloves which deal extra knock back.

One noteworthy thing in Mac's aerial kit is that his neutral air is actually frame 2. Despite the tiny hitbox, it can be sometimes used to challenge some incoming attacks.

Something I'd like to say is that you can also use mac's ko punch as a recovery tool if needed. Its not always best but it can be a life saver from time to time

I main Mac, I mostly just stick to platforms and the ground. Never really go for aerials at all, pretty useless on him. He’s a great character in the mid-game as he throws a lot of people off. His recovery is decent once you learn it, rarely falling to your death or SDing. I usually just die to smash attacks or high percentage.

also, just as a minor thing, mac's up-B grabs the ledge easier if you're facing the stage than if you're facing away, not to mention that it only snaps to ledge at the apex of it's height as well as it has invincibility in the air as well as in the ground

Little Mac's tilts are not as good as it was in Smash 4, especially thr down tilt, it's way slower in comparison. Anyway, as someone who has been using this character since day 1 in Smash 4, this was a great refresher, as I stopped using him for a while after I made it Elite. And let's not forget that he has the worst frame data when it comes to using directional air dodge.

If he can’t get any other buffs give him this one auto snap to the ledge like cloud. If he can get one more speed up his grab. Another? Remove the damage taking away his KO punch. Another? Make his ground up b and his air up b the same height. Another? Remove the dying taking away his meter and make it take longer to get his ko punch to balance it out and reduce his doing damage adding to his meter completely if you think it would be more fair like that.

As a Little Mac main, I can tell you that a lot of what is said is true. A combo not gone over is the down throw+up tilt+up special. May not be a true combo, but most people don’t expect it and can be a good combo for damage and throwing an opponent off as they start to realize you know more than they originally thought. Otherwise, this is a very good guide and you really just have to experiment to see what you can get away with your opponent.

Make sure to use the KO punch on the ground as much as possible. It can't go through shields when in the air

A couple things you missed: Little Mac’s KO punch will kill all characters when they are at or above 30%, except for Donkey Kong who dies at 40% When Side-B-ing on a recovery, any attack that deals any sort of knock back will cancel your side-b and you won’t be able to use it until you hit the ground again. This is different than many other side-Bs like PAC Man, Wii Fit, Villager, etc. who will be able to side-b again after being hit in mid air. If your opponent has a character with a hit box around them on Up-B, you can go off stage and counter their recovery. Down throw to a short up air chain is a really good combo to force your opponent to waste their jump. KO punch also doesn’t go away with damage taken but rather distance launched. For instance, if you were caught in a flurry attack but managed to escape before the final hit, you would still have your KO punch. Edit: Incineroar will also die at 40%

when in stock lead, use side b off stage if you feel confident

I know it was in smash 4 not sure it is in smash ultimate (can't afford a switch yet) but another thing Little Mac can do is trick his oponents with his side special, say a sword fighter character (just picked it out of random) is charging forwards him for a forwards tilt or special (doesn't matter) he can use his speed to get away then quickly, turn your directional pad to the opposite direction he was sprinting in to surprise his oponents with a possibly unforseen haymaker using the last frame of the attack to send the charging foe flying in the same direction they were charging in

He’s my favorite character, as I grew up on boxing, im a boxer, he’s from one of the most nostalgic games, and he’s a boxer against literal supernatural beings.

Even with his bad recovery there is something fun about playing Little Mac, maybe because you're punching out the heck out of everyone

If someone is camping ledge and you are little Mack, do down tilt and forward smash. It is faster than grab attacks so if they stop shielding they will either get in a jab lock or you get one free smash attack in. If they continue to shield after the jab they will get shield break, and they will fall in the void because they where on the ledge camping.

He also has a 0 to death. 1-2 up tilts, grab, give a few punches, down throw, 1-2 up tilts and KO punch. It might be hard to pull off as people can just di out of it but if pulled off ur gonna make someone’s jaw drop.

My best friend mains Mac. He's actually pretty good with him. The things I have trouble against are his speed and the super armor. I tend to play light to mid-weight characters, so you can imagine I'd have a hard time with it. But I manage. I usually win more than I lose against Mac, but he can be annoying to fight with how much super armor he has.

Little Mac is Low tier for a reason...He is the Underdog...Just like in his game. When you're playing Little Mac you're not playing smash you're playing Punch Out..its all about being patient and waiting for your opponent then find their weakness and KO them...being the Underdog means you're at a disadvantage but always finds their opponents weakness to KO them

Mac Nation!! Up past 4.8 mil baby! Couple quick things that might help people. D tilt to side b at lower percent is great, and if people get inthe habit of air dodging out of the move, you can delay the hit by letting the jump finish. D tilt on edge of stage combos right into side b and can easily kill people at 60-70% as they drift off a bit. Lastly for recoveries, people love using projectiles to gimp but mac has tools still. His side b blanks projectiles if we hit the projectile with our big beefy hit box, it stops even samus's fully charged shot and piranha's patowie if timed right.

Corrections to be made - Macs jab is frame 1 - KO Punch is lost taking knockback, not any damage a good rule of thumb is that if it puts him in tumble he'll lose it after 3 seconds - Down tilt into Ftilt at low % rarely works on most fighters, due to the 2nd hit of Ftilt dropping - Mac has no throw combos at all unless the opponent DIs in, in which case you can then actually kill confirm into an Up B at high % While not a correction, I think you should mention Down tilts 2 frame potential Overall a solid guide, just a few things to be noted.

Just needed a quick "LITTLE" refresher.😆 But in all seriousness the first 4 minutes really helped. Because I'm not good at Smash in general just playing for fun. And doubt I will ever go to Elite smash with any character. Even though that is one of my smash bucket list event. But anyway I went from about 3 million GSP to 6 million GSP. And then I dropped back down to 4 million. So just a quick little refresh your help thanks. And I also hope to get him back up there. Right now my best GSP character is Banjo and Kazooie. A lot of people say they're easy to play and take no skill. But I actually know a bit of moves with them from playing them so much! And I will admit wondering does help a little with some of the combos. But you can also kill pretty easily and edgeguard with them. Without Wonder Wing

I main Mac because firstly, I love that he just punches people in the face for the *entirety* of his moveset. Also, he may be trash, but he's accurate. A regular (comparatively speaking) 17 year old boxer is obviously gonna suck when compared to the rest of the roster. I don't think anyone could've said it better than AlaxRelax.

Installed Smash just last night, was maining Link, even back in the old Wii days, but then I discovered Little Mac and fell in love with him immediately, due to my love of boxing as a martial art.

Little mac's neutral A in the air can actually be used to continuously hit a character from air and carry them to ground and then start your assault from there. The only air move of his that has a good versatility. I pull this off all the time against players who love to jump all the time.
