Fun fact: Mega Millions was notably redesigned in 2017. Ticket prices were raised from $1 to $2 and the chances of winning the jackpot were decreased with more numbers drawn - resulting in bigger jackpots. Before 2017, the first five numbers were drawn from 1 through 75 and the Mega Ball was 1 through 15. After the change, they reduced the first five numbers to 1 through 70, but increased the number of Mega Balls to 25. This lowers the chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot from 1 in 258.9 million to 1 in 302.6 million.

I hated the changes. I'd rather see tons of people win from a billion dollars as opposed to just one person. Nobody NEEDS a billion dollars. If you win 20 million and walk away with 7, that's going to allow you to live a very comfortable life.

It isn't like that in californiA chart for example it could be over $3,000,000 if it is won as the jackpot grows. And one winner can get the prize. Or it might be $30,000 plus and since they want to pay less if 2 or 3 winners win the same prize the money decreases so it could be $5,000 plus if there are 6 winners.

So when you buy a ticket at the lottery machine...it picks all 6 numbers randomly. If you are picky with your number, just use that big slip of paper and pick your 6 numbers N run in the machine. It gives out a ticket with your chosen number

@@brandonknight7240 ironically I went to Ardmore Tennessee with my son today for the first time and played the Powerball for 10 drawings and wasted $60 bucks on scratch offs. I'm going to spend $100 on scratch offs and play the same powerball numbers for 10 drawings twice a month for now on. I set my limit and I'm comfortable with that. I won't be buying any scratch offs for less that $10. Good luck/blessings to the both of us. I played family birthdays and won't change the number unless they have a birthday.

You play DIFFERENT numbers if you choose to. Some people have one set of numbers they choose to play, others want to increase their chance of winning so they play multiple numbers. You can play up 5 different sets of numbers where I live.

The power play you choose will multiply your winnings by that amount for all winnings EXCEPT Jackpot. For example, if you win one million dollars and select 4 power plays, you get 4 million (less taxes of course).
