James shows you the solo mode for Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island, by playing a couple of rounds from Scenario 3: Jenny Needs Help!
This video is showing the Z-Man games edition, which has since been replaced by a revised, 2nd edition from Portal Games, which includes upgraded components, additional scenarios, and a revised rulebook.
However, the gameplay is identical between the versions, so this video should still give you a good sense of how the game plays.

#RobinsonCrusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island is a game created by Ignacy Trzewicze. Trzewiczek takes the players to a deserted island, where they'll play the parts of shipwreck survivors confronted by an extraordinary adventure. They'll be faced with the challenges of building a shelter, finding food, fighting wild beasts, and protecting themselves from weather changes. Building walls around their homes, animal domestication, constructing weapons and tools from what they find and much more awaits them on the island. The players decide in which direction the game will unfold and - after several in-game weeks of hard work - how their settlement will look. Will they manage to discover the secret of the island in the meantime? Will they find a pirate treasure, or an abandoned village? Will they discover an underground city or a cursed temple at the bottom of a volcano? Answers to these questions lie in hundreds of event cards and hundreds of object and structure cards that can be used during the game...
Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island is an epic game from Portal. You will build a shelter, palisade, weapons, you will create tools like axes, knives, sacks, you will do everything you can to… to survive. You will have to find food, fight wild beasts, protect yourself from weather changes…
Take the role of one of four characters from the ship crew (cook, carpenter, explorer or soldier) and face the adventure. Use your determination skills to help your team mates, discuss with them your plan and put it into practice. Debate, discuss, and work on the best plan you all can make.
Search for treasures. Discover mysteries. Follow goals of six different, engaging scenarios. Start by building a big pile of wood and setting it on fire to call for help, and then start new adventures. Become an exorcist on cursed Island. Become a treasure hunter on Volcano Island. Become a rescue team for a young lady who’s stuck on rock island…

It has been pointed out that I made a slight mistake in my explanation for the hunting action. The correct rule is to place pawns on the Hunt Action space near the beast deck, in order to perform a hunt action. You can perform this action as many times as there are cards in the beast deck.

Even though the older version of the game is used, this is the absolute best introduction for a solo game. I should know, as I just spent way too much time watching every one I could find, including one that was 4 hours long. Thanks for this.

Wow! Thank you Justin. It means so much to know that this video was helpful. I almost upgraded to the new version a few times, but this copy holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the first cooperative board games I played.

just picked up the collectors gamefound edition and this is the best how to play tutorial i have seen so far. Really helping me understand the game mechanics before i play my first game and read the rules properly.

Great solo play introduction to the game. I never played the solo version, but it's a great group co-op survival game. Appreciate the comparison between what the differences are with solo vs. multi-player.

Bought the new version a couple of years ago but haven't played it yet. I play solo so : are there any differences between the two versions except the box, please ? It looks good but have not even read the instructions ! Thanks.

As far as I'm aware the gameplay is identical between the two versions. I believe the only difference was the addition of custom wooden pieces to replace the wooden cubes, a significant revision of the rulebook, and I think a couple of additional scenarios. I'm not sure that you need to place pawns on a tile with an animal icon to hunt an animal.....? I think that animal cards just need to be available in the hunting action pile (after being discovered on island tiles) to take the hunting action...?

You are entirely correct. Upon double checking the rules, it does indeed say that you place the pawns on the 'hunt space' in order to perform the hunt action, not on a tile. Thematically I guess it represents the fact that we know the animal is out there, and we can go hunt for it from any location on the island. Thank you for pointing this out.
