This looks awesome. 1. Elegant rules and I can tell there's a lot of depth. 2. Really nice figures, unpainted yet you don't have to bother with sprues. 3. Value, 99 bucks for all that? How much does 99 Bucks get you at GW? The codex, rulebook and that's about it.

right, and the microtransactions to get the "formations" to build lists, or now the monthly payment for list building tools, etc. While it's not as huge of a gap as he's implying, GW has and will always be the most expensive game on the market.

I do need something to replace Warhammer FBs. So I will give this a try at a board game store before buying.....of course, if they can add several armies then the appeal will shoot way up.

Oh, and I really like how the rank and file matter for unit strength, and how losing models means the units fight less effectively. The mechanic for this looks really cool.

This looks really cool to me. I liked the Attack Wing (X-wing with dnd dragons and ranked ground units) and this looks like a big improvement on that system. Looks like there is a lot of interesting and unpredictable things that can happen with units panicking, the magic runes being random each turn, blight, stunned, buffing units with hero's, etc. I can see myself picking up two starter boxes to field full armies. Two full armies for two hundred bucks is pretty cheap in the table top gaming world.

The MORALE system is the simplest most dumbed down thing Ive ever SEEN in a wargame. What kind of fuckin paint chips do you eat daily to think its complex?! We've played 6 demo games thus far, and Morale has come up... 3 total times. You really need to stop talking now

Looks like a potentially good game. Interesting mix of xwing movement with a minis fantasy game. I'm liking it so far. I wonder though, how it's going to compare finanically, to Kings of War or Age of Sigmar. Knowing FFG, there'll be a ton of expansions and packs to buy, which I'm not sure I'm ready to jump into again. I'm still hurting from Imperial Assault. Not seeing the issue with 'clutter' though. This looks like the same number of components used in X-wing or Attack Wing. Same number of bits.

Its funny how the beasts of war crowd seems to be not impressed at all and is kind of nagging around, and the team covenant viewers are generally way more interested and (don´t be mad) more open to this. I think its a good modification of the Spaceship Engine they use. I like it, but it has to be polished I guess. Of course the BoW crowd knows propably way more comparable games?

I think it comes from most playing many tabletop wargames whereas the Team Covenant crowd are coming at this from a board gaming/card game background - the way the system works for me is a nice bridge between the casual and the more 'intense' tabletop side of things. Hopefully it will appeal to everyone.

I like the mechanics of the game. Looks much more interesting than WFB and less complicated than 40k. Wheels look cool too and they're really easy to understand. No rolling of a bucket of dice either.

Feel like a good idea where you need to think a step ahead to plan movement and initiative and also to be able to change setup of the tray. Models also looks good. BUT what's make me skeptical is the feeling of mess. Lots of different paper things that could get lost or damage, lots of rules on the armiecard that you need to keep track of. And the whole idea of panic token and changing the different "order boards" form each armies feel like it will stop the flow of the game. My Conclusion is that someone took some elements from X-wing, warhamer and some boardgame and mixed it without thinking of the "playability"

If you're familiar with the world of Terrinoth they have plenty of factions. As well as the Undead and the Humans they have Dwarves, Orcs, Elves, Demons and more :)

The only thing I don't like about this system is the use of movement templates. Those things get real finnicky when units start clustering together. Anyone who has played X-Wing knows how annoying it is when you have to move other units out of the way and mark their location in order to put your own movement template down on the table. Using a measure tap is just so much easier.

Yeah I think this suffers from poor explanation more than anything. As a fan of x wing and not a huge wargamer, this did excite me as a bridge... but... The goods I personally like the dials, I wouldn't have them on table like that, you'd use them like x wing, but I did like the double dial combination. I did like the usual FFG dice combination, and the simplicity of the cards for units etc. etc. The bad in practice, those templates and the jigsaw unit basing became a nightmare when terrain was involved. I know the set comes with cardboard cut out scenery, like x winqs asteroids etc. but lets be honest, you want scenery on the table in a minis game like this. Those templates and bases become a nightmare for scenery. As a bridge, it still may work well, a good ground level, easy buy in if you;re already a board game fan... and while I've often said there must be a better way than tape measure.... clearly not... or at least, its not the x wing style template system Still... I will take a look on its release.

While it looks like a good game, I'm pretty happy with Tail Feathers, when it comes to a game with good strategy and using a path system. While it is a completely different theme, just looking at this game only makes me want to play Tail Feathers again.

X-winger here. My dials are still going strong 3 years in. And the dial system is superb, hidden information is the lifeblood of X-wing, and it looks like they've doubled down on that element for RMG. Good news, I'm officially interested now.

The mechanics seem interesting enough. If done right, they could add some interesting elements to traditional rank and flank wargaming. But the visual effect on the board is ugly. Didn´t like the way the units look with the trays. And there are just too many tokens etc. laying around. But it´s a game I´ll have a closer look at.

Great miniatures but clunky, complex rules which seem poorly suited for large battles. However I will say it great to see another game company dive into the mass fantasy battle market.

I know my reply is quite late, but you mixed up "Runewars" (which is kind of a 4x game) with "Runewars the Miniature game" (of this video) game. However both games are out of print (2021). I own both and can state that both are great games within their context. Runewars (4X variant) was simply too old (maybe there will be an update 202X?) & "Runewars the Miniature game" was killed by the release of Star Wars Legion (Miniature game)... I still think that is a great game (and miniatures are very cheap now on amazon etc. -> can be used for other fantasy-systems)

I'll stick with Kings of War after reading through the rule book at Adepticon. To sum it up, Rune Wars is horribly Overdeveloped. Wheels, widgets, tiny cards, jigsaw trays, more cards still, specialty dice and rulers. It's a FF game to the core. It takes design queues from the gambit of FF titles and feels more like an amalgamation of games you've already played rather than something fresh. Cool that it's there for those interested. Big ol' pass for this guy.

The is a culmination of all the things that are wrong with miniatures games and brings them together into one big heap of confusion and disarray...and for the bargain price of $90.00....Sweet!
