„Cm maj7 is a minor tonic sound“ i am so happy you mention this! So often every minor 7 chord is interpreted as a dorian chord or II chord 😂

In this context, absolutely!

Really nice breakdown, I have struggled with the conventional notation 4x3, your 3x4 makes way more sense. Great improv breaks with straight up material. Thank You!

Thanks, Donald! Thinking about the systems broken up into bars of 4 does make this tune much more intuitive, if you ask me! :) You might also want to check out this shorter lesson on Solar for additional materials on the tune! www.jazzguitarlessons.net/blog/solar

Amazing lesson! It was really helpful to see how you work on smaller things within the form (the key area, the dominant chords) rather than tackle everything within the tune at once. I definitely need to start working that way.

Breaking things down into manageable portions is definitely the best approach you can take when it comes to the huge challenge that is jazz. Keep at it! :) Thanks for the feedback, and glad you liked the lesson. I might also recommend the lesson on rhythm changes (www.jazzguitarlessons.net/blog/introduction-to-rhythm-changes-for-jazz-guitar) for a similar thing.

Fenomenal lesson! Love it! It's like a reverse engineering where you show all the secrets behind the scene of this great piece 🙂🎸 I wish you could do the similar lesson for Question and Answer of Pat Metheny...is it possible?

Hi guys, i wanna say at the beginning this is my opinion. When i was try to get the concepts behind improvisation in jazz guitar i watched so many of this youtubers pretending to give you the right informations about it. They are all the same and they won't at the end and you will waste a lot of time. Go studying somewhere else, you ll do much better imho. Cheers to everyone.

On which page did you try to download the PDF? No link to the PDF on the How to Play Solar blog post yet unfortunately. Should be coming very soon!

Jazz Guitar Lessons I tried the link from the KZfaq lesson. It went to a 404 page which had an active sidebar. I scrolled down to solar but that link also did not work. I didn’t try from the website, I’ll wait and try the lesson link again later, I really like this take...! 😎

I appreciatethe lesson. BUT! Don't say we are going to start playing now and then keep talking for 2 more minutes. More talk is only talk and it is annoying . Stop saying what you are going to say and JUST SAY IT. Don't turn your camera on until your thoughts are organized.
