Just a quick note. If anyone wants to learn this picking pattern quickly (It comes up a LOT and is a great tool to have) Kansas - Dust in the wind is a great way to learn it. Spending a bit of time learning this type of picking will completely open up the songs you can play. 100% worth the amount of time it takes to learn

I saw an interview that Glen Frey did many years ago.He said he learned how to finger pick from living obove Jackson Browne in LA in the 70’s. He would work out his songs and they would They all knew each other and hung out a lot. Glen Frey, Don Henley, Dan fogelberg, etc. And played on their albums too. What a group of guys to grow up with in the business. Incredible. Dan fogelberg said he was in the studio making his albumn and the eagles were next door making theirs. He needed some harmonies on “Hard to Say” so he asked them. And Voila. Another great song was born. I might be wrong on some of the details. Cheers Andy Correction, I guess they were room mates at that time.

A good substitute for that difficult F chord where you have to use the thumb, without raising the E to F is to just play the F on the 6th string (first fret) and the C on the second string also on the first fret (1st and 3rd strings open) throughout most of the tune, and when you come to the part where the lyrics sing "These days I seem to think a lot..." just add the A on the second fret of the third string! Note: I don't play it Travis style, although with this great lesson I will surely try it.
@Tzadeck
@Tzadeck 2 жыл бұрын
Worth noting that one reason you've finding the thumb-over thing hard is not just the thickness of the neck, but also that Taylors have a pretty wide nut-width. Worth having a couple of guitars with different nut-widths around just for this reason, haha.
