In this video, I go over the rules of Trash Pandas The Raucous Raccoon Card Game, a game by Gamewright for 2-4 players ages 8+. I also give my thoughts and show a few sample rounds.

Trash is treasure! In this raucous card game, paw through the deck to find sets of day-old pizza, half-eaten candy, and other luscious leftovers. Roll the die to tip over the garbage or raid a rival's rubbish, if there's no Doggos standing guard. The more you roll, the more actions you can take - but get too greedy and your turn is scrapped! Stash the most trash and you're pick of the litter!

This is so helpful! I got this game for my kid's stocking and when I read the rules I was like 🤔 for the stashing, etc. You clarified for me! 🎉

Why does this game seem so damn confusing

@EngageTV well, for me the confusion was found in the booklet having only two instructions "roll die " with a brief explanation and "resolve tokens." Then a section for scoring.The description for each of the tokens is on the back of the instruction sheet, but it's not as straightforward as my normal reading of board games like Catan (which comes with a detailed play by play instruction booklet showing scenarios for each portion) or simply being taught in live time by someone who already knows the rules. I'm sure if I was playing with adults we would have talked the rules through on round one, but with children who argue about who's right or get impatient to know how the game goes, it's helpful to watch this video.

I feel like they clearly didn't playtest their manual. One of the best pieces of advice I got when I published 52 Dragons was to have lots of people playtest it without telling them how to play and see if they can figure it out on their own from the instruction manual alone.

Sometimes it seems like the only way to figure these games out is to get together in a group and read the manual together and do a few practice turns to try to make sense out of things! Thanks for watching :)

I prefer games where you defeat your opponent like yugioh or have one card left uno!

I agree with that. I definitely prefer games where you need to achieve something to end, like defeat an opponent or reach a shared goa or something. Most of my game-designer friends are opposite. Their games are always the kind where you play for fixed number of rounds and then calculate your score at the end of the game to determine who wins.
