Those who are struggling with the rules, do not worry, I can explain EXACTLY when to play what card. (Also sorry for responding a year late). So, for simplicity, I have decided to create these 4 categories to help knowing when to play: While Rolling the die, After Rolling the die before Token Resolution, While Resolving Tokens, and Not on your own Turn. Before I start listing the cards in the correct categories: The instructions say that once you start resolving tokens, you may not use any cards gained during that turn, so that means that you CAN play cards THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE in your hand like if, for example, you already have MMM Pie!, you could play that while resolving tokens. Anyway, without further ado, I present to you the categories: While Rolling the die: -Feesh -Blammo -Nanners After Rolling the die before Token Resolution: -Shiny While Resolving Tokens: -MMM Pie! Not on your own Turn: -Yum Yum -Doggo -Kitteh To help explain why each of these cards go into these categories, you may read the following statements: 1.) THE VERY FIRST THING YOU DO ON YOUR TURN IS YOU ROLL THE DIE, so that means, you can't play your cards yet. 2.)While rolling the die and you bust, well Blammo and Nanners would be there to help you and, as for Feesh, Feesh can be played while rolling the die as in the card guide section of the instructions booklet, the Feesh section says this: ''Use a Feesh card to look through the discard pile and fish (take) any one card'' The next bit is important: ''If possible, you may use that new card on this same turn i.e. -you may take a Blammo! or Nanners to prevent a bust.'' Logically, if you can't play Feesh at the start of your turn, and you could potentially use the card that you retrieve to save yourself from a bust or slightly later on your turn, then you could only really play Feesh while rolling the die. 3.) After you finish rolling the die, you may then begin resolving tokens, or you could play Shiny, as once you begin resolving the tokens, you may potentially be stashing or collecting new cards, so to avoid any confusion and to make it simple, play Shiny before you start resolving tokens. 4.) MMM Pie! is used for resolving a token twice, so it could be used when resolving tokens. 5.) Yum Yum, Doggo and Kitteh are supposed to be played on another players turn, and not your own. Guess why it is in the last category :) Again, apologies for sending this so late.

Most of the cards have clear instructions for when they can be played, except for Shiny and Feesh. The answer from the designer is surprising and differs from your explanation. In fact, it's much simpler. The designer stated in a BoardGameGeek online discussion that "cards may be played for their action at any appropriate point during your turn - before, during, or after rolling." Therefore, Feesh and Shiny can be played AT ANY POINT in your turn. They can even be played before rolling for the first time, as well as during and after token resolution (as long as those copies were not gained during your turn). I can see that you were trying to simplify things, especially as they relate to the rule on not playing cards gained during a turn once token resolution begins. Our house rule is pretty simple: Cards gained during a turn are kept face down in front of the player--not physically in their hand. (They're still considered part of your hand for the purposes of the Kitteh card reverse steal.) The player can look at the cards, of course. Most importantly, this prevents players from intentionally or accidentally playing a card gained during a turn once token resolution starts.

I could have used more info on how/when to play the cards. You covered blammo, which I get, but there's not a very clear delineation in the rules for when to play cards in the roll-resolve-turn ends scenario.

I agree that the instructions are not super clear, but here is the turn order I follow. I believe it is correct. Roll dice for tokens If you bust while rolling, you may play appropriate cards to keep from busting Resolve tokens Play or stash cards that are appropriate to play during resolution of tokens You may also play certain cards when it is not your turn, and the text on the card tells you if you can do that. For example, Yum Yum, Doggoh, and Kitteh are all cards that call for an action that can be performed while another player is going.

The Lone Cardman the cards do NOT say when you can play them. When can you play Shiny for example?

@@travishunt8999 You are correct! I misspoke (mis...typed?) Some cards do and some card don't. I think it would be a simple fix to plainly state when each card can be played. Directions on how to play are my only criticism of this game. I enjoy the combination of the roll mechanic and the freedom in how to use the cards or resolve the tokens. I think they wanted people to play the cards in different ways (before or after token resolution) based on their needs. We will never know though because they don't clarify it very well. I will amend my above statement!

Shiny and Fish are the only two, and I'd say play house rules on those two. It doesn't say that you can't use a shiny on another player's turn. I think it would be just fine to steal another players stashed card immediately. Although people are having a problem with the lack of structure for this game, I enjoy the fact that there is flexibility in how to play certain cards. It takes a moment to wrap your head around, but I like it.

@@riffleshuffleandroll I agree. The game is fun and has great potential. But, the rules are terrible. For example, the card "MMM PIE!" says to resolve a token twice. Can I force my opponent to resolve a token twice? I may have a slight lead and there is only one card left to draw. I may want the game to end before the next player gets a chance to take the lead.... but there are no instructions for when you can or can not play the cards. Only a couple seem to make sense on obvious timing because of context...

2 questions: 1) Do you have to resolve the Recycle token first, or can you resolve another token then use the Recycle token to replay if? 2) When resolving the Raccoon Eyes token, do you only draw one card per card your opponents stash face up during that round or draw one per stash card of every opponent?
@jbrian53
@jbrian53 2 ай бұрын
1. No. The print instructions and this video both state that the recycle token can't be exchanged for a token that was previously taken. 2. For the raccoon eyes, you reveal a card and the opponents choose whether they each want to stash one copy of that same card. If there are three opponents and two of them choose to stash one copy each they have of that same card, then you would draw an additional two cards into your hand. So, in a four player game, the most additional cards the player could draw as a result of the players stashing would be 3.

Great video, but I noticed one discrepancy. I'm not sure if they changed the rules since this video was taped, but my copy of the game and the rules from their site both list this amount of starting cards: Player 1 = 2 cards, Player 2 = 3 cards, Player 3 = 4 cards, and Player 4 = 5 cards

I own every gamewright game. I like how your company takes a game of the past and reworks it. For instance frog juices and old card game called casino and this is an old card game called don't push your luck. I hope gamewright, gets inspired by Dominion the board game and create their own deck building game. The first game right game I bought was in the late 90s. As far as board game companies go if it has the gamewright logo you know it's a good game.

@@gamewright I have not. Thank you so much for the information. I can't believe I'm actually talking to somebody from the gamewright company. Thank you for almost 30 years of excellence. My first game right games were cows can't dance but like to be asked(favorite) frog juice (best game ever), suds and rat atat cat. I have the original '90s artwork. In many years of posting board game parties every week I've told many people about your company. Your game pyramix is usually the game I play with people when they've never played a board game before. Dungeon drop and I guess now artichoke are the two games I need to find. Thank you so much gamewright again.

Can you immediately play a card that you recovered from the discard pile using a feesh? And can every card be used at any time?
@meskue1
@meskue1 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you may use a Feesh to take a card and then immediately play that card. This is usually done to save yourself from busting. Here is some info recently posted on BoardGameGeek: In general, cards may be played for their action at any appropriate point during *your* turn - before, during, or after rolling. For example, you would play a Blammo! or Nanners after you've busted. You would play an MMM Pie! when resolving tokens. You could play a Shiny or Feesh at any point during your turn (even after busting, to try and get a Blammo! or Nanners to save you). The exceptions are these cards: Yum Yum - played on another player's turn to make them continue rolling Doggo or Kitteh - played when a player tries to steal from you (steal token or Shiny card action) Hopefully that helps, game on!

When resolving the tree token is stashing required or can you choose not to stash??

Where do you put the cards used after you can't roll anymore? Can you stash them or no? (We think not but)Where do they go?
@gamewright
@gamewright 4 жыл бұрын
Good question! So you don't take or stash cards until you decide to stop rolling and then use the tokens that you collected. If you collected a "trash can" icon, you can draw cards from the draw pile. If you collected a "tree" icon, you can stash them in your personal stash. Hope that helps!

This is the most complicated card game on the planet. Not sure what drugs the creators were taking. Do yourself a favor and make your own uncomplicated rules or just buy something else.

Not only are the rules of this game not explained well in the rule sheet, try buying this game brand new all sealed in the box like I did and it has one token missing. I was thinking who the heck is putting this game together? I hate this game and took it back.
