I'm doing the same, it's more of a legacy, but there's learning and drama along the way. The style she's talking about is to write a memoir like it's fiction - what we're writing is not the same. It also feels too commercial to me and as an artist, the structure feels limiting to the creative way my mind works. I'm not that kind of thinker. But I get it - it's a simple method to write a short clear cut, easier to sell story. For me I don't care about tons of sales, I just want to tell the story of my life and what helped shape it from my parents and grandparents - to abuse - to healing and what I learned. It's for my grandkids. So, I'm self-publishing. I have my title and I'm using a painting that's a fave of people who love my art as the cover.

I just watched the very end where someone asked about a braided memoir - which is kind of what i'm doing - and I love that she said, - I'm paraphrasing - 'You don't need a complicated structure to tell a very powerful story.' Good luck to you. on your family saga!

@@1TigerJo I am almost finished my 2 nd book, and close to publishing an autobiography, but connecting in many early generations.. I am retired and was a pilot and airline manager for most of my life. I decided not to move into a personalized fiction, I wanted to keep the family identification.

I am doing something similar but have stayed away from fiction.
