Nice video. I have a seasonal camper with almost the same hook up. My problem was that I had to get on my knees, slowly pull out the dump handle and listen to the water draining. What I'm going to do is lengthen the pipe from the dump handle forward, add a see-through section, then another handle outside the trailer. Now I know when my tank is clean and I don't have to get on my knees to grap the dump handle. :)

Biggest issue is the tanks. With the tanks on a constant open a black tank won't train properly. With a tank you need that tank to fill up so when you open it it's a big flush that will take most of the stuff down the hose. There's no way when you flush the toilet that whatever is in there is going out the hard line. Most of it will just stay in the tank including toilet paper. What you end up with is a clogged tank. Gray tank is different since it's just water and that will flow out with no problems but you don't want to keep the gray and black open at the same time!

If the camper just has a direct sewer line out with no holding tank, it should just flow out like a normal plumbing system.

HomeOwnerRepair Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, it is very much appreciated! We bought a used/but new to us 2000 Layton 3710 park model travel trailer in excellent condition. The previous owner had someone remove all the tanks, and connect pvc from sinks/shower/toilet directly into septic. We were able to reconnect pvc to septic where were parked, thanks to your video. :) We are new to f/t Rving but love it so far. It's very hard to find useful/helpful information about setting up plumbing/drainage for Rvs with no tanks. Our toilet is emptying directly through pvc into septic with no problems, but sinks/shower do not drain at all. There may be some kind of drain valve that is closed or shut off. Any ideas on where to look- what to look for- or what would prevent drains from draining? Nothing is clogged, sinks/shower were used last August 2017, and according to the previous owner the drains emptied properly at that time with no problems. Any advice or ideas you may have are extremely appreciated! Thanks again! :)

Hi there, great video. quick question. I have installed permanent connection to my RV to my sewer line beside the house that leads to the city line. I have installed sewer pump to pump it better, my question is, should keep the black and gray valve ON all the time, if not why not? thanks
@HomeOwnerRepair
@HomeOwnerRepair 6 ай бұрын
In an RV you want to close the valve let the waste and grey water build up a little then open the valve to release it. This is more important on the sewer side of things because if you leave it open you run the risk of having the solids pile up because there is not enough water to carry it out. Hope this explanation helps you out.
@CAneedswater
@CAneedswater 3 жыл бұрын
Are you by-passing the black waste tank all together? THAT would be awesome!! On my RV I'm having a hard time getting the connection from the black waste tank to the rigid pipe to hold. Factory used plumbers putty and a hose clamp and that just isn't real stable.

You may have to come off of the two outlets with some elbows, they connect them to a Y fitting that goes into one pipe, hope this helps out.

Typically if I move to another campground I use a sawzall, cut the white PVC pipe I connected them remove the rest from the RV plumbing by unscrewing it. I usually cut the PVC in a spot that is easy to reconnect to once I am set up somewhere else. This is more of a seasonal set-up not for a weekend camping.

@@HomeOwnerRepair I'm glad the PVC has been performing well so far. Being buried below the frost line certainly helps. But from what I understand, something that is working good so far, doesn't mean it will continue to do so. From what I understand, ABS specifications suggest (temperature range and expansion capability) that material will continue working well for far longer without the sudden failure the PVC may experience in colder climates.
