Customer needed a concrete fire pit area but with a unique look to it. so we ended up making an octagon with the fire pit in the center.

That the way my father does it. I'm just not a fan of it. But if it works then who am I to judge. Thank you for your comment and support.

Cohesive vs granual soil. Good concrete starts with a thorough knowledge of a proper subgrade.

Arriva la raza (mexicana ) good work 👍 just have to disagree with you my dude about contractors using the method of pulling up the rebar not being efficient I’ve being doing it for a long time and never has it failed saludos desde el Norte de California ánimo

I appreciate the comment. I'm just too paranoid. Always want it to be perfect. My dad just pulls it up and it has never had a problem for him. But it is 1 less thing we need to think about on the pours. Saludos from colorado!

When I use a buggy it’s kinda point less adding chairs due to removing and then putting them back, so I just pull up the rebar. But when it’s an easy pour I always use chairs but good concept to sell to the customers to set you apart.
@jmconcretecoloradosprings
@jmconcretecoloradosprings 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJoelperez13 There is more labor involved for sure. Usually my wife is walking back putting them all under as we pour. There is usually a 6-8 foot space between the buggy and the concrete being poured. So there is some room to maintain the spacing of chairs while not being entirely in each other's way. Or crushing them with the buggy.

I agree with Octavio, and I know a number of masons who are better than you or I will ever be who did it that way for decades. I disliked the video because you claimed it was a mistake to pull up the rebar as you pour.

Nice work my friend! I see you all run a rattle stick on your bullfloat. How do you like it? I've never tried one, but I'm sure it works the cream up nicely!
@jmconcretecoloradosprings

I would say it works well. It reduces the amount of passes needed to get the surface "right". It reduces friction so even when you have a bunch of poles on. It slides easily. Just don't over do it. You can work air right out of the surface. All in all I am happy with my purchase.

Is Class 6 with fines good for subbase in Colorado? Vs something without fines in it?
@jmconcretecoloradosprings
@jmconcretecoloradosprings 3 жыл бұрын
After consulting with local engineers. The conclusion we came to was that for the application and scope of work we do. And since water penetrating the subgrade is something we avoid. Class 6 3/4 minus is an adequate base. If we were doing a parking lot for semi trucks. I would go with 3/4 plus and no fines. It all really comes down to the application and if it will encounter water from an external source.

u wana sell that s70?
@jmconcretecoloradosprings
@jmconcretecoloradosprings 3 жыл бұрын
Not at the moment. It serves as a perfect backup. 85 goes down and the s70 can back it up. It's not better than the 85. But it's there if we need it. Plus the s70 steps in when the 85 needs scheduled maintenance.

How many bags of concrete did you used ?
@jmconcretecoloradosprings
@jmconcretecoloradosprings 2 жыл бұрын
We ordered 5 yards of concrete equivalent to 225 80 pound bags. I think we had half a yard left over.

Looks like you doweled in then ran your cuts as if the old and new slabs were isolated from each other
@jmconcretecoloradosprings
@jmconcretecoloradosprings 3 жыл бұрын
Correct, a few dowels to keep them flush. But cut the joints as if the slab was independent. I don't believe the original slab will crack the new one in any way that the joints wouldn't catch.

@@lachika8005 Heat can and will slowly hurt concrete. Causing cracks. It's all about heat transfer. The less heat that reaches the concrete the better. At least Gas firepits are better at directing heat up and out.
