Never considered simply removing the thumb but keeping the forefinger for left of the line cuts ( for right handed folks). I did know about the thumb and forefinger pinch control however. I missed out on half of the tips until now!

Dovetails are my most challenging part of woodworking.

It also helps for straighter cuts if you put your index finger on top of the blade and not around the handle like the rest of your fingers.

I’m sure I’ve heard you say this countless times before, but how much downward pressure do you put on the saw?
@chm1701 Жыл бұрын
As he mentions ‘with a light grip on the saw’; so essentially, letting the saw to the work without much downward pressure. The saw naturally goes down when pushed forwards, so to speak.

Well, sounds like you’ve never tried. It can be faster, quieter and just as accurate. It seems to also have a meditative/zen like appeal, to do your woodworking without any power tools. Perhaps you should consider learning/trying to cut them by hand sometime. You might enjoy it.

Why build a drawer to easily handle 40lbs that will never have over 2lbs ?!
@RobCosmanWoodworking Жыл бұрын
If you have kids you will have 40 lbs in your drawers! They think they are steps. I’d rather over build.
