What I love about independent hands in fast passages is that exhilaration experienced by the listener when listening to the performers dexterity. I love it!

At 10.44 your pinkie does an incredibly high elevation to start the passage! I love to watch it! Richard.

Dear Danae, thank you very much for this video. After half an hour of practice following your instruction, my playing sounded much cleaner already! I was wondering could you please consider making a video about piano accompaniment/chamber music in the future? Thanks again and hope you have an awesome day. 💕🌹🎹

Thankyou very much for demonstrating how separate hands practice cures any unstable ( usually the left hand) passages. Also, the fast/slow system is super-effective in nailing any tricky moments. I used to play hands together frontage start in independent hand passages, but your method has revolutionised my approach. With grateful thanks for yet another superb video.😊

Again a very interesting vid. Thank you so much.....What I will never understand ( of course: this is another issue.....) is that only a very small range of so called "classical musicians" pay attention to jazz. For example "Prof." Joachim Kaiser always mentioned Friedrich Gulda and his style to play Bach or Mozart and furthermore Beethoven. At the very same time Gulda played Jazz and worked also as a composer. Gulda was always open minded and performed on stage with the top of international jazz musicians ( Herbie Hancock, Chic Chorea....). There's also Keith Jarret, who recorded the "Goldberg-variations". All of 'em played for example Mozart piano-concertos with orchestra in their youth. In our times I want to mention Francesco Tristan who playes "Petrouchka" or Bach on the one hand. On the other hand also his own improvised jazz or techno ( like Gulda did). What's about Jacob Collier? Aren't we talking about "music" itself? It's like a universe.....I remember my own education at music conservatory. On my final graduation -concert I performed Bach, Ravel and Mozart-piano concerto in A major. When it came to the cadenza, I improvised, based on the themes of Mozart but in jazz-style. The audience loved it. The professors called it "disrespectful" and " horrible"...I'm pretty sure that they even didn't understand what I did. I wanted to translate music from the past into our times. Finally , a case at the courthouse was filled and after 5 years I won. "Music" is like a "universe " and we should always celebrate it and we should reach out our brains, hearts and souls to touch and to reach people.....Maybe ya guys gonna create a new "lesson" about improvised music. You also need to have good knowledges about composition and tough piano skills. Whatever....again my 2 thumbs up for Mozart! Love it lifelong! Thank you so much!

Thanks so much! I wholeheartedly agree with you and actually cannot believe the reaction of your professors that you described. Of course, music is a large universe and I admire people that move effortlessly between the genres and even manage to combine them. Personally, I would never frel secure enough in my improvisation skills to play jazz on stage, because it is a completely different approach to piano playing, but I did study it at the university and I absolutely love it.

Thank you, Danae, I really enjoy your videos. I’m teaching and practicing mostly the same way you do, but Im not able so methodically beautiful to put it all together in one shot like you do.I like that you emphasize the benefit of practicing separate hands, because from listening today’s masterclasses even for youngsters I got an impression that this stage is abandoned. To say more I can mention that some very famous pianists with whom I studied also avoided it , I was listening to them in dorm where we’ve been practicing. To me practicing separately is like a good hygiene. If you are interested find on you tube masterclass of Lazar Berman ( one of greatest in my opinions) , he was teaching in Italy and he showed a new for me pattern to practice which he learned from his great prof. Goldenweiser.

4 notes with out regard for time or rests?
2 жыл бұрын
They should be four same-length notes, so if you have a passage of continuous 16ths, for example, I would practice those in these sections of 4.
