Hi Jordan and PTime! SO happy to have found you and your AHMAZING teaching videos! Thank you for the solo ideas as I have to shift to practicing in the p.m. and I injured my hammy. Great video. Love solo drills videos because it’s so hard to find a partner to do drills with. It’s almost impossible to get a group to train with unless there’s a coach involved. Also, It’s nice to see teachers that see the benefit of practicing aggressive serving. I know to begin with it’s more important to consistently get the serve in, but getting the hang of hard to return serves can be practiced at any level.

I am always working on my skills when playing recreationally. Yes, I make more errors, but since I don't have the choice to do drills hardly ever (most all I play with just want to play, with no interest in improving their skill level). So, they just have to tolerate the additional errors during RECREATIONAL play.

Can you do dynamic / drive shot with your hand swinging , not just pushing, such that it lands at the kitchen line?
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 11 күн бұрын
Sharp angle...kind of. you still have to swing quite up and full speed not recommended. full swing produces more of a forward motion sending the ball in a straight line that is not conducive to landing short while still clearing the net.

Jordan, Is there a purpose in spinning your paddle 1 or 2 revolutions AFTER you toss the ball as you are moving to your ball contact position? It seems there is a risk in ending up with a slightly wrong grip at the time of ball contact. Your feedback is appreciated.

@primetimepickleball 3 жыл бұрын

Try the Louisville Slugger soft toss machine.. It has a "feeder" that sends a ball down a ramp and launches just high enough to hit.. I use it in my classes. It's a "baseball" item that works really well for Pickleball.. Cheap and easy to set up.. The other thing is for "targets" you can use towels to lay on the court and they're easy to see n hit.

pros and cons of drop/bounce serve vs hitting serve without a bounce.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 11 ай бұрын
Folks sometimes have an easier time with timing the ball after they let it bounce. If you don’t need that, I’d recommend using the volley serve. You can get a higher contact which is very helpful to hitting more impactful serves. If you watch the pros you’ll notice they all use the volley serve. The drills in this video are for self feeding for practice and not specifically for serving.

Just curious, is your two-hand backhand shot a preference or a necessity? If a preference, then why?
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 10 ай бұрын
Two handed backhands are entering the game more & more. #1) it's easier to hit topspin on the BH with a two hander because you can have a later contact. Topspin is becoming much more relevant in the game #2) It provides more stability on defensive blocks & resets to have a second hand that is behind the paddle 3) Some players find it easier to attack with two hands because you're holding the left hand on the paddle as a FH and that can make it easier to generate power.
