Just be careful….I did this one day and then forgot to add the food. My daughter opened her lunch at school to find a cup of hot water. Lol

Would this work for "dry" hot foods? Like kid fresh meatballs or nuggets?

Yes, just wipe down the walls before you put them in.

The hot water is only to heat the thermos. You dump it then put the food in. Hope it was helpful!
