leave a small hole in the end and use a straw to suck most of the air out. Makes Heck of a difference.

Hey Leigh, ive used a floating silver thing in my greenhouse water buts, ive had the in there for about 6yrs and they seem to be keeping the water crystal clear, yes if i wanted to drink it i would treat it further, but at least it doesnt seem to sludge up.

Rice into water bottles /coke bottles are good or protein powder tubs , 0xygen tab plus masking tape round top .

We're probably OTT but when we open the oxygen absorbers we immediately split the down in groups of 5 and vac pack them to minimise loss.

Adding the cost of mylar bags onto portioning bulk buys negates the savings. I see people using Mylar bags for things they're only keeping a couple of years when rice and pasta last that long in their original packaging!

If it is from you mains supply it will have chlorine and will be good for years, if its kept away from any sunlight.

I have some that are a few years old stored in a cool dark room and if stored correctly these will be fine for a few years but for long term storage I would used food grade jerrycans
