The Schluter®-KERDI-DRAIN can easily be installed within a concrete box out. This video demonstrates the preparation and installation of a KERDI-DRAIN flange within such an application. The KERDI-DRAIN can be used with either a mortar base or the Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER prefabricated shower trays. The drain is available in different materials, including PVC, ABS and Stainless Steel.

if needed, could i cut the kerd drain itself to lower the height so it fits?

How do I determine the measurements for where to cut the pipe. At 1:30 the commentary temporarily stops and does not provide any explanation for how to measure the depth at which to cut the drain pipe. Is it 2.5"? Thats what was shown in the video.

Is the depth to cut 3 3/8 minus 7/8 = 2.5"?

Yes, 2.5" is the measurement between the bottom of the tray and the bottom of the stopper inside the drain outlet.
