Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. If you are thinking about moving to Arizona feel free to subscribe and check us out on our other channels.

If you're retired, it's a snap. Come May 1, I revert to my summer sleep schedule, I stay up until 10-11am, sleep until 7pm, and I escape the heat of the day with A/C. Love my 2am bike rides with no traffic, and walking my ferret at 3-4am.

One more tip, especially for women. Keep a sweater in your car all summer long. As soon as stores, restaurants and theaters start running their air, it’s freezing indoors. It’ll be 112 outside and every woman in every office you go to will have a sweater or long sleeves on. The none stop air conditioning is 🥶.

Great tips. Blackout curtains also help. I use portable swamp coolers until late May when I switch to only AC. Great point about getting your AC checked before the summer. A couple of years ago, mine broke down in July. Thankfully I was able to get by with the swamp coolers while the new one was being installed, although it wasn't as comfortable as with AC. Same thing had happened to my neighbors about a week before, and I had rolled a swamp cooler over to them while their replacement HVAC was being installed.

I learned first hand about Phoenix heat on a motorcycle trip between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Flagstaff was in the mid-70’s at about 5:00 p.m. The temperature was still in the 100’s when I got to Phoenix a few hours later. I got up about 6:00 the next morning and it was already 96 degrees in Phoenix.

Sorry Jeff, but sunscreen 🧴 is “extremely”important. I swear buy it and I do not have any sun spots and I also wear breathable cotton. I refuse to wear 100% polyester like most do. You can’t blame them if they’re shopping at Ross or Marshall’s, that’s why the clothes is cheaper because it’s all flammable polyester. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Polyester makes one sweat more. Think smelly sweat 🤷🏻‍♀️ I definitely stay really hydrated, I drink about one gallon of water per day and sometimes it’s still not enough for me and YES one will have to urine more often.

As far as having water is concerned, I have a hot tub. I used to think that if I turned down the heat, it would be cool in the summer so I could use it as a dipping pool. LOL! It was hotter! I had the hot tube thermostat set to 80 degrees. My hot tub was 107 degrees. I decided to drain it until the cooler temperatures.

We drove through needles California it was just as bad. We were only there for a few hours but long enough to know it was hot. Lake havasu city is dubbed the hottest place where people actually live. Number 1: Lose that excess weight. Your body has a more difficult time cooling itself when there's more adipose tissue. The extra layer of fat is great if you live in Minnesota but not when you live in Arizona or the South. You'll be healthier and much more comfortable in the heat.
