I ended up winning my case after about a month and a half after this evaluation. They asked me all sorts of questions and I was honest.

Pretending, faking, and exaggerating are the absolute worst things to do at a consultative exam.

I’m so anxious about this exam. Not because of disability but because I have to air out all of my history, it’s not pretty. And to get thru it without falling apart.

I actually feel this may be really good for me. I have agoraphobia. Working up to actually go to these appointments is going to be a mental struggle, especially since they’re so close. I don’t really have time to mentally prepare but I have to go. The fact is, for the last seven years I’ve barely left my home. Including the doctors. My mental health spiraled and I just isolated more. I’m hoping getting to do this evaluation, they’re see that me lacking medical history is actually a side effect of my mental illness and the neglect for my own health that my mental health issues cause.

I have hyperadrenergic pots. It physically overloads my body with adrenaline. Social securitys own doctor said i was moderate to mark disabled with an anxiety and mental evaluation. The case manager still denied my disability. I suffer physical problems such as fainting and many other issues. Adrenaline is another symptom. I should have been approved. Waiting on a hearing. Itll be a phone hearing due to covid and my long term disability benefits running out. I have to rush it before those benefits run out. I physically am not capable of working. Ive been bed ridden for 2 years. Social security is corrupt. But anyone who is reading this, seek God and he will always provide! I will win my hearing.

I have a lot of trouble articulating and organizing my thoughts in real time, so I don't feel my consultative evaluation by a psychologist went very well. He moved from question to question faster than I could give detailed answers to, and he also seemed clueless as to some disorders (for example, when I mentioned harm OCD, he didn't even know what that was). And when I hesitated to answer yes or no questions, because they couldn't be answered that simply, he made no effort to dig further. All in all, I don't feel like I got a fair shot, as opposed to my original claim 4 years ago, at which time the psychologist I saw was much more willing to hear me out. Is there anything I can do?

This is why you should have some idea of how to answer them. I have no problem with short-term interactions with people. If i walk into your office i will be very polite, I will talk to everyone I meet and i will be smiling a lot. However, try living with me or working with me for a long period of time. I tend to come into conflicts with people i live with within 6 months. I hate it when people tell me what to do. I might be able to tolerate it if it happens once in a while but if the person i am living with keeps telling me to wash the dishes in the sinks I will eventually snap at them or if a manager at my job were to nag me all the time I would eventually snap. I can easily learn a new skill but will have difficulty if i have to do the same action over a long period of time. I cant handle repetition and will become agitated. The last time i saw a CE was when i had my benefits reinstated. I was scheduled to see the doctor and i simply answered her questions. I know what symptoms i have and how they affect me. I just treat the appointment as if it were a normal doctor's appointment. I ended up getting my benefits reinstated. I had lost them because i had written a letter to Social Security telling them I was not disabled and that they should stop payment immediately. I ended up owing money so a few years later i went to the rep who told me that my letter was the reason why i had lost my benefits and that I should reapply as I was within the expedited reinstatement period. He told me that in the future if i want to get off benefits do it the proper way and find a job so i do not owe money to S>S. I had told him at this appointment that I did not think i was eligible because i was going to college and he told me that my benefits are based off how much i earn. I am guessing this is because my situation is because of a listed impairment and not grid rules. I figure i would not likely pass grid rules as i have some college and have experience working in retail and fast food. I am guessing that the reason i had the CE was because i had not seen a doctor for 5 years and they needed updated medical records. I should expect that if i do not have updated medical records they would send me to a CE? During the pandemic i have not been able to see a doctor because where I am living the hospital is closed.

The main problem with the exam as Ginsberg describes it is that is it a one-size-fits-all exam. And unfortunately he is not alone. Almost all exams for psychiatric/mental health disability claims are like this. But being disabled is a relative thing. Requirements for a senior Professor of almost any field requires far more complex cognitive abilities than working in an office or being a driver or a laborer. And the problem is that these short visits, and even the longer 2 or 3 day full neuropsychological exams are not evaluated this way. So you could have, let's say, a fun Professor of Neuroscience who on a daily basis needs to write highly competitive grants, compose and deliver original lectures to undergraduate and graduate students, mentor students, publish papers and more. Moderate cognitive difficulties would make it impossible for this person to do their job at all, even though they would appear upon routine examination to be well above normal in affect, grooming, speaking etc. But that says nothing about their ability to do their job. Yes, they could bag groceries or do clerical work but be a Professor, not ta chance. And this is the problem with current methods of evaluation for SS and Private disability insurance.

I have already had my Psychologist appointment way before I saw this. But I just answered truthfully and enjoyed talking with him. But, to be honost I would have to see him every day for months and months to get everything or almost everything I would have liked to tell him. But I acutually enjoyed it. Still got my problems and issues, but It was time for me to do this...

I have hyper POTS and one of my tests shows I have 10 times the adrenaline of a normal person. This was showed in my dr records to social security. So my anxiety has been physically proven yet they still want me to be evaluated. Can I take these test records to an evaluation?

is this regarding a mental exam or the physical exam? I have a mental exam via ZOOM in 2 weeks and then a physical exam a few days after that. I will just tell the doctors of my impairments such as my back and knee pain and now an irrelgular heartbeat which im getting a sonogram for. if this is just for the mental/psychiatric exam then I will just tell him or her about my depression and anxiety problems and my lack of concentration and lack of focus

I went in the hearing anf broke down and starting crying talking about my symptoms and stuff and was honest about everything. Made me remember objects and count backwards at the start then one lady left the room and now it was questions about anxiety bipolar and depression and I just broke down talking about it. I listed everything I could think of and was honest and the other lady came back and said I was gonna be sent to JPS hospital evaluation and I could go voluntary even the police said it was voluntary but when I get up there transported by a police officer they say I'm not their voluntary and I said I was done wrong and they wanted to hold me against my will and I didn't sign anything or take anything and I said I was gonna contact the media or better business burro or something cause the SSI doctors both said I was going voluntary same with both the police officers. ?Well they ended up just releasing me I guess cause another mental health place sundance was shut down for the same reason. Sorry for the long story but what now? The lady was nice to me that int viewed me mainly at the SSI evaluation and told me even if I fail I can request some sort of memory test since I guess on the memory part I got a lot wrong.Thanks I know this is an old post but maybe I can get some help

Hi Mr Ginsberg, our 22 yr old son has moderate autism. He has been receiving SSI since he was 18 and has just recently graduated with a certificate of completion from our public school system. He has applied for many jobs and has not been hired yet or proven that he can hold down a job. I recently filled out a mandatory disability evaluation questionnaire and have just received a letter to schedule our son for a psychological evaluation. My question is are parent/s allowed to be in the room to help answer or clarify any questions. Also, is their a transcript or recording of the meeting that we can get? Also, if he is for whatever reason deemed unqualified, does everything he is currently getting just stop, including his health insurance benefits? He is not physically challenged, but has epilepsy which is controlled through medication. Thank you

Hello, I was approved for SSDI (PTSD) within 4 months without a lawyer the first time....after about a year, I went back to work, stopped receiving SSDI. Worked for 8 years and a car accident made the same symptoms appear again, so I have applied for SSDI again....I am currently 55 years old. I came in 20 minutes late in dirty clothes and had not showered in days. I kept my eyes glued to the door except when I would examine the window as a possible escape. My exam is tomorrow morning and I have sever cptsd from years of abuse and trauma high anxiety and physical injury to my lower back and I have tronchantric bilateral bursitis. I may have depression not sure but I definitely have trouble with doing things backwards and have had a very hard time specifically with numbers my whole life so counting backwards is not gonna be something I can do - is there any way you can address that your not academically able to count backwards from 7 or 100 ? I don’t know if there is a disorder for this but I’ve always struggled with counting backwards - walking backwards - singing backwards - and remembering items that are in a list of im visually shown things I can remember them but again if they are backwards I can’t do it. Is there a way to skip a question that they give to you ?

I've had a 3 hour evaluation by a neurologist at Kessler Institute. The test came back with a couple issues one being cognitive fatigue. Their dr's cannot be as detailed as Kessler. Would they still make me go to theirs?

...im not seeing this as completely true .....as advice .....ive unfortunately had problems the majority of my life .....it sucks .....its like i speak a different lauguage most of the time ....but im also not stupid ....i have control of the english lauguage ....i know how to act from experiance untill i get comfortable ....so im told .....my family cant understand me ...to the point im not even asked over for holidays ....i guess i understand it ....they have their image to uphold ....last time i saw my sister she took me to a mental hospital on christmas eve ....i guess i was too comfortable ....i get it ...they were having their christmas party ...its okay ....but you learn how to read people ....its an on going struggle ...not knowing what it is your doing that makes people change right in front of you ....then your paraniod .. .the tv wont shut the fuck up about it ....but if you turn it off ....you hear people you thoufht you knew outside the walls talking about you .....logic tells you ...its all in your head ....YOUR BRAIN tells you ....thats what they want you to think ....then your back in the hospital ...they give you meds ...horrible meds with side effects that put you on a freeway overpass ....not even aware that your there untill your outta the haze that took you there ....now every person you ever knew from your small town ...is afraid of you and what your capable of doing .....you learn how to make people laugh and feel comfortable around you ....hopefully ....but you know by their body english if their really at ease and they just wish you werent their .....you feel it ....you know it ...you have skills that will not give you a permanate job ....for me there is none i havnt tried ....still ..nobody hires me ....the joke were i stay is ....dont let him change the light bulb .....cause even the one over his head neefs to be changed .....its funny .....but it sucks . SSI says im able to work .....we dont have a circus or a freak show here .....maybe they will let me work for them ....even if i just change light bulbs ....

This video scares me - I can look attentive, try to be , but be quite there. I can function with good communicator , but not with most psychologist testors. And they are supposed to be god psychologists! So how will I be believed? I seem hard to understand for most , and their charts and questions are too narrow and superficial for me to fit in and be able to answer . As well as the way they are asked, and the psychologists emotional-mental absence or what it is, - I suppose they want to be neutral, but that can well be combined with helping me be less fearful and stressed-tense in the test situation. They didn't act upon ,u repeated telling that I fear Drs , evaluations and that I get too tired and aroused ion the crazy efforts to answer and even understand what they mean and want exactly. I want to give the testing up, since I only make an extra fool of myself, i e unnecessarily and more than I really am sick, and I don't want to do this tó myself, including them writing bad things in the journal, misrepresenting, false citations of what I said, commenting my behaviour out of their context , ie what the staff did , which might make me understandable. The psychologist seems nice, but I know from much bitter experience that it/they can be fake nice and back-stab me afterwards, . And the fact is, he gave no understanding, validation, interests , questions , support or advice on my mention of maltreatment, cruel doctor and incorrect bad journaling about "me" . I have really worked to make myself clear and be firm that i shall not have any more false, bad and harmful journals from people who can't /won't listen or take correct notes, or write wrong on purpose. I am so exhausted from health-care and fear I'll never get adequate testing and therapist to heal and start living my life with. The situation is like Scylla and Charybdis: If I leave the situation, I am on my own and stuck and lost, or I get deadly stress actívated and renewed traumas, whether or not they are intentional. The harm on me is too severe and ethe effects on my overall health and life too, for me to have a chance ay´t managing alone. They even stole my home, rights and money! FAke, unlawful guardianship, where I applied for and need only Good Man. I should never have listened to all the persons encouraging me to apply, they did not know about corruption.
