"stagger pressure" is also known in some fighting games as "frame traps" because it is about creating a frame or two in which they CAN do something, but it's a trap - you're guaranteed to hit them in the startup of anything they try that isn't invincible.

staggers in mkx and most games from what I understand is ending a string early in order to create mind games. If you finish the string you catch them poking, but if you don't finish the string you can reset your pressure

I'm really late but those are two different things. Let's say you have 1,2 as a frametrap. So they get stuffed trying to interrupt 1,2 and so they wait until 2 comes out to take their turn. Now your brain is massive so... You do 1.......1 :o. This waiting and resetting with a non true frame trap because they waited is called stagger pressure. Bonus terminology :mental frame advantage. Them waiting for the whole 1, 2 we mentioned first is a form of mental frame advantage. It's not real, but because you established they can be punished for taking their turn too early 1 is now a tool for mental frame advantage.

So basically pressure strings are shorter combos designed to keep you safe instead of deal damage. Makes sense.

the best way I learned was to do a move that you could jc or hjc, for example Terumi's 6A, 4D, and 5C. practice doing that specific part first before doing it in a combo.

Tier making didnt base just on pressure lol. Es is an example. She is a high tier but pretty much every move of her is unsafe, so she is hard to apply pressure
